JT Chargois Injury Update

Recommended Posts

Alright, let me put my Doctor hat on for this one.  This is not a good thing, but the bright side is it could have been worse as stress reactions are a precursor to a  stress fracture so at least it didn't get that far.  Typically these cracks or fractures in bones occur when tendons or ligaments that attach to the bone are repeatedly overloaded by new training stress before they've adapted.  I've also seen pitcher's with stress reactions in their elbow that are caused from excessive hyperextension of the elbow.  For someone who makes their living throwing a baseball, it's not the greatest of news.  The best form of treatment at this point is rest and light stretching for the next 4 to 6 weeks.  Then slowly ramping back up over the following 2 to 4 weeks.  My medical guess is that JT is out of game competition for the next 2-3 months.
