What would the cost in terms of Prospects be for Neshek

After the last week, I am not sure that the Twins should be trading for Neshek. I think what they are trying to do: throw minor leaguers to the pen, a couple a time and see whether might stick is a better strategy. They got to figure out what they have, before they lose them to free agency. No need for Neshek who is btw one of my personal favorite Twins of all time...

last week I was in the make a trade to bolster the pen. I'm starting to come around to this way of thinking. Too many holes to plug in the rotation and pen. Start seeing what you have in the minors and cycle them through until the pitching staff is the same average age as the lineup.

Maybe every minor league system is like this, but it seems like the Twins have a huge backlog of pitchers in the age 25-27 range, languishing in AA or even high-A, very old for their leagues due to injury delay or drafting of elderly college seniors or whatever, where decisions have been deferred and deferred and at some point the FO just has to decide whether they will ever contribute. That's what I see this season as being about. The order of these auditions will be partly determined by 40-man considerations, but it looks like there's a willingness to jettison spare parts that don't look like a fit for anything.

My thought is to bolster the pen then at the deadline we can decide to go for it or not and trade for a starting pitcher....Vargas or Clayton Richards or someone along those lines.

I wonder if Sonny Gray could be had? Oaktown is in last place I believe. He probably has some control left in his contract and with Santiago gone after this season it would be a nice replacement?

This is the kind of arm you take a chance on in August if he's still dealing. Those don't cost much. He's basically the Phillies' version of Fernando Abad, but a bit souped up.
