How do we fix this so called bullpen?

I am not dismissing the lack of moves made by the FO before the season began, but the truth is injuries have played a part in the bullpens construction. If you had told me before the season began that Chargois would have a poor ST and then get hurt, that Reed would be hurt before the season began, that Jay would be hurt before the season began, that Burdi would get off to a great start and then be lost for the season, I just wouldn't have believed it could all happen at once.

It's is my fondest hope that Pressly will find himself quickly, that the pen will be cobbled well enough through auditions and the such to survive June, and that by July Chargois, Reed and Jay will all be healthy, and that Melotakis, Rosario and Curtiss will all be up to AAA. With that, we could see a very interesting and different dynamic for the pen in the second half.

Sounds like Perkins could be back in 4-6 weeks?

I wonder how much velocity he's recovered. A couple of months ago he was topping out at 78 mph which was not promising.

According to reports he is now up to 84-86.  Give him some time and he might be there pitching at the Wheeler level...

Breslow is not as bad as Pressly and Belisle. Demotion should start with Whoever holds ERA over 8.

Why not? That group was largely injured and/or ineffective prior to 2017. Chargois' 2016 was basically the only full effective pro season from the bunch. Granted Jay had some extenuating circumstances in 2016, but Burdi and Reed in particular had pretty weak pro resumes entering 2017.

Not that they couldn't succeed, of course, but there's no excuse for counting on that group very much for immediate contributions.
