SI not thrilled with Twins

When you have a five-tool player, it is important to emphasize the lesser tool over the greater.

I'm starting to worry about Buxton's ability to develop the ever-important sixth tool, the bunt tool.

Honestly I'm just glad this forum exists and that it's filled with smart people who realize how dumb and terrible this article is. I'm sure a lot of the 'Mauer is soft because he sat out with concussions' crowd nodded their heads in agreement throughout most of it.

Thank you, Twins Daily folks.

There is a lesson here. One mistake or false hood can derail your entire message, which might be correct.  In the context of an outside-in perspective of the Twins, it is generally correct.  Essentially they are fielding the same team as last year maybe trading a little defense and pitch-framing for a little offense. Falvey is banking on better luck and better health and improvement in his young players to win at least 11 more games this year.  Some how he believes the optics of a 70 win season and the prospects of adding more players in the next off-season is improvement.  To this fan it doesn't work that way.  100 losses is possible, but I really hope they don't start the season 0-9 again where the entire team realizes how bad they are and ensure it will happen!  BTW, The Twins front office get's zero credit for any improvement of wins, Terry Ryan's 2016 team could have achieved the same with a change in luck. Off Season/Spring Training GRADE, D+!

Ya know, a lot of points in the article seen really obvious to twins fans. But this post is really for casual baseball fans following other teams. If you were asked to preview the team to a General sports fan from St.Louis who goes to 3 or 4 baseball games a year I'm guessing it would sounds pretty similar. "Mauer actually isn't good anymore. .. yeah we had one of the best farm systems, but the prospects didn't plan out. .. yes, we do still have Dozier. He's good but it didn't help last year. We'll probably be pretty bad." Casual fans want to read names they've heard of and know the basics.

That's fine. Then don't use a "scout" to do the work.

Kate. Upton. Riding a horse... naked. Lower the standards! If i go for in depth scouting, on say swing mechanics. There's a blogger on this site that does an ok job.
