Ryan Speaks About Leaving

Terry Ryan made a few comments about his leaving last summer. The article said he dispelled rumors of a difference of direction with Pohlad. But Ryans quote, "I better not get into that" seems to infer that all was not duckies and bunnies. And while Falvey had made a comment that TR would be welcome back into the orginisation in some capacity, that also seemed to be somewhat in question. Two other tidbits included. One on the Twins new hitting coach, and Bill Smith leaving which is already another post on TD.

IMO there was little to no chance the two prior Twins GMs would stay in the organization after the club hired a new PBO and GM.

 

Keeping underlings around is one thing.

 

But keeping the former boss(es) around?  Too much baggage, mixed loyalties, ego, etc etc etc.  That's one mistake the club has made in the past with Ryan/Smith and Smith/Ryan, and I bet they don't ever make again.

I'm of the mind of:  if you're replacing a guy with another guy, why on earth would you keep guy #1 around?  The right time to make that swap is debatable:  3 years ago, 4-5 years ago??

 

In the time that the Pohlad family has owned the Twins, the value of the team has increased by a large percentage.  I did the math once and came up with a number like 90+%.  Let's take some of that money and give it a spin!

Wow, and a new Hitting Coach, James Rowson, that I've never heard of.  What were the odds of that   

 

And Bill Smith is leaving.   Yeah, should really re-org the whole lot and get a fresh start / ideas.

Falvey talks to TR about the team, which shows the respect TR has, and Bruno and Butch Davis are gone.  You can be sure the coaches were discussed.
