I hope that the Royals use all their pitchers and we get to their starter early tomorrow.

I like extra innings, especially if the other team is running low on players. The Royals have used 7 pitchers and are down to one catcher. Mauer should be trying for foul tips.

I think that you may be being too tough on him. It's been a long night.

Mauer's defense is very good, and he's really helped make the infielders look good with some some extra credit scoops. He just looks... old.

 

But yeah, long day for the boys, and anyway, Joe's following the Twins tradition of good defensive first basemen who didn't exactly look like Baryshnikov over there.

Alex Gordon scares me. He's just the kind of clutch son of a bitch you don't want to face in the 10th.

Press didn't give him much he could elevate, but yeah, Gordon was the guy I was most concerned about.

Press closing in on half a start worth of pitches. Not good.

 

Edit: He did a great job. Hope his arm bounces back.  The breaking stuff looked as sharp as ever on his last few pitches, so that's maybe a good sign.

Usually when it's 2 a.m. and there are about 50 people in the stands there is one overweight man mouthing off at every pitch. At least we don't have that.

Sorry I let you down, man. Relatives in town from Oregon for the weekend. Maybe next time.
