Congrats to Eduardo Nuñez All-Star

This is definitely not a token All-Star game selection. When you are on pace to hit in the upper 3-teens, with 20 something HR's and 40ish SB's, while playing SS pretty much most of the time, while being versatile in the field. That's a frickin' shoe in -  said and done. I cannot see any other way about it.

clearly not everyone agrees with you...when you look at snubs and questionable choice lists.....

He was a manager choice.  A good chunk of those, when they aren't picking their own players, are the mandatory one player from each team pick (especially when it comes to position players).  In this case, the AL Manager picked two position players. The As' lone representative and the Twins' lone representative.

As far as IF snubbed: Kyle Seager (who isn't on the final vote ballot?) Longoria, Correa (also not on the final vote ballot), Kinsler, Pedroia. One of those gets picked if the one player rule isn't in effect.

I'm glad Nunez got it, and I'm happy for him, but he's not better than those guys.

I have not looked at them. I have been pretty disinterested with it all for the obvious reasons. Nunez has all-star numbers, I have to believe you agree on that. Snubs aside, I have never liked how the all-star rosters have been assembled, and really I don't like the All-Star game. I very rarely watch them.

I'm with you Bark. All-Star weekend hasn't been on my radar since the pre-teen years. Back when sports sports sports, my whole life was just sports.

Van, I think the last time I enjoyed an All-Star game was in 1989. Bo Jackson ran up the wall and made a great catch and hit a towering HR in Anaheim. I was 14 at the time in that ancient era and an excitable youth!

The only other memory I have of the All-Star game is T-Hunt robbing Bonds of an HR, in 2001 or 2002? All-Star games don't work any more.

Yes, Nunez making the all star team after being picked up off waivers by TR was a good move, no doubt. Unfortunately that good move (and a couple others) have been surrounded by a series of terrible moves that have lead to 5 out of 6 90+ loss seasons, and a 110+ loss season this year.

picking nits but Nunez was DFA'd and traded to the Twins for Miguel Sulbaran.

But yeah, scrap heap moves will pay off more frequently due to the low risk and shear volume of them made by comparison to bigger name trades and high end MLB free agent signings. Sample size makes all the difference over time

It's funny how a player the Twins pick up on a waiver trade and two year later is an all-star and Ryan get's no credit.  But if Arcia makes an all-star game in two years, there will be pages of people patting themselves on the back for saying what a mistake it was getting rid of Arcia.

Nunez has played well for nearly a season's worth of games over the past 15 months, and I'm very happy for him getting to go to the ASG. He'll be 'former All Star Eduardo Nunez' for the rest of his life, and that's got to be a terrific feeling for him and for many of the people along the way who helped him get there.

As for Ryan and the Twins' part in Nunez' achievement, they deserve credit for holding on to Nunez and probably to at least some extent helping him develop into the player who was honored with an All Star appearance.

But I wouldn't be too hard on people if they don't give Ryan and the Twins as much credit as they may deserve. When you're attempting to juggle six balls and you drop five of them, people don't remember the one you kept going. They remember the five you dropped.

What about the seventh ball?  :)

Nathan/Liriano/Bonser for AJ

Kielty for Stewart

I'd even argue that Jepsen for Hu is of comparable value based on 2015.

Knoblauch for Milton/etc.

Yes, most of these are older. That doesn't mean they didn't happen.

I'll give you the Nathan trade being better the rest not so sure. Knoblauch had 4 productive years with the Yanks and Milton if you like 4.00 ERA pitchers like TR does then maybe you get this one too.Stewart maybe but if Nunez continues to produce or nets a descent prospect in a trade then not so sure. Jepson forget that one. Point is TR stinks at his job and one big issue with the FO is they don't make great trades. How about moving Perkins when he had value or Suzuki or Hughes. Not going to mention Dozier and Plouffe because that is still to be determined. Poor judgement with trades and free agent signings of mid tier pitching plus his merry go round of top prospects back and forth with AAA without allowing extended periods of play to see if they belong or not. Finally because the Twins are so awful TR is backed into a corner and has to give a longer leash to Buxton, Kepler and now maybe Rosario and Berrios. Didn't even mention Meyer and Polanco. It just goes on and on.

When Arcia becomes an all-star? :)   Just trading him has 20 pages of comments, we'll need suicide hot lines if he ever becomes an all-star.
