I know this doesn't solve any of the Twins problems but I thought I'd throw some numbers out there to show that other teams have some problems too.

 

Danny Santana has a a higher OPS .645 than:

 

Matt Duffy .629

Jason Heyward .611

Justin Upton .589

Mark Teixeira .578

Prince Fielder .562

Kendrys Morales .567

 

Not to mention the contracts of most of those guys.

 

1st basemen with big contracts

 

Mauer OPS .728

Pujols  OPS .704

Votto    OPS .697

 

Ricky Nolasco's FIP 3.87  is better than:

 

Felix Hernandez 4.05

Max Sherzer 4.25

Cole Hamels 4.44

Sonny Gray 5.21

Adam Wainwright 4.10

Justin Verlander 4.01

Heyward is one of the most overrated players in baseball.  Mostly thanks to an over-emphasis on WAR.

 

He was a solid signing for the Cubs based on need, but he's not as good as he's often talked about.

Agreed.  But he's a solid bat and is just scuffling this year.

Heyward is essentially Alex Gordon. It's up to you to decide whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.
