Copied and pasted from Seths honorable mention for April MiLB hitter of the month.

2B Luis Arraez (Cedar Rapids) – .313/.393/.479 (.872). 15-48 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI

For being young for this level, this guy may be on top 30 Twins prospect lists in the not too distant future...

There is a thread in the minor league forum about prospects that should be promoted. Arraez is one I would put on the list. Hitting 325/388/442 and an 830 OPS with 8 doubles and two homers. Luis also has limited the Ks to 15 in 120 AB. He has 216 innings at 2B and 23 at 3rd with one error at each. It is time soon for him to try the next level.

Now hitting 316/373/430 with 14 doubles (only 2 homers). His GO/AO is 1.97 so he keeps the ball low, gets on base and scores runs (34). He has now logged 303 innings at 2nd with 4 errors (.976 fielding and 4.69 range)

SEND HIM TO FORT MEYERS!

sorry for yelling

Still hitting 322/372/429... Not much has changed in a month. It's time to move him up.

Promote Arraez to Fort Myers replacing Gordon

Promote Gordon to Chatanooga replacing Reginatto

Promote Reginatto to Rochester replacing Britton

Cut Britton. It's time.

Came across this lad looking over the Midwest League leaders. 3rd in BA at .327, ops over 800, 19 years old in low A ball. Pretty impressive. He's never failed to his over .300 at each stop on his way in the minors, career .325 hitter with an ops over .800.

Under the radar he has flown for me, but hard to ignore that level of performance.

You mighta picked a real sleeper there Goulik.

I do not know how long they can keep this guy down in CR. He is TEARING IT UP lately. In his last 10 games he has 38 at bats, 19 hits, and no strike outs.

On the season he is hitting 346/386/456 with only 41 strike outs in 379 at bats. He has 27 doubles, 3 triples and 3 Homers.

Defensively he has committed 9 errors. He has played primarily 2B where he has committed 8 of those errors. He has had 317 total chances in 544 innings at second for a 975 fpct.

He has also played 23 innings at 3rd and 9 innings in LF. He made his other error at 3rd.

Okay...is this the guy that replaces Dozier in two seasons? Then what do we do with Polanco now?

Next year High A and possibly a mid season call up to AA. Two years from now he may get a September call up, the year after that, who knows? Maybe he joins Gordon in the middle of the Twins infield as Doziers replacement and Polanco is our Utility? A lot of things can happen in the next 2-3 years...

Ok so my previous post may have looked like a partial wrap up but it wasn't so here we go. Arraez finished the year with an 830 OPS built on the back of a high batting average (347) and lots of doubles. 31 doubles in fact which bumped his slugging up to 444. Luis had 31 walks to offset his 51 K's over 475 at bats.720 out of the 752 innings he spent in the field was at 2B making the other 32 innings pretty irrelevant. He had a 976 FPCT at 2nd committing 9 of his 10 errors there. 9 errors in 381 chances isn't too shabby.

Arraez also made Seth's preliminary top 50 prospects coming in at #19. This may seem high until you realize his age is also 19.

Outlook for 2017

Arraez surely will spend a good portion of next year with Fort Meyers. I felt he could have been moved up mid-season and might feel the same way next year by the end of June but since he turns only 20 this coming April, there isn't any reason to rush him. He will probably spend all of next year in High A.
