Arcia wins the last two games, and has been one of the best hitters on the team since he's gotten in the line-up.

Good thing that injury forced Molitor's hand before they dumped him for some awful retread named Murphy.

If you don't feel comfortable letting a guy swing away on a 3-1 count, he shouldn't be on the MLB team.

Does his speed change the calculus now? Does Joe Mauer score from first on that Arcia hit?

Arcia! Hits the ball where it's pitched!! Taser my head, I am SHOCKED!

I told you you'd be surprised.

It's a great win,  but it's even bigger to me that the Twins will maybe have more confidence in Tonkin and Arcia, and give them both a legit shot at sticking this time.

There's a damned good chance the Twins lose 2-1 in nine without Buxton running.

And now they've just won 3-2 because, again, Byron Buxton is *really fast*.

Right, so because it worked out this time that means it's the correct decision to take your best hitter out of every game that is late and close?

It kinda feels like you are being a bit results orientated. I'll hold you to that opinion just to make sure you aren't.

Either way, my hope was Mauer wouldn't be standing on first, he'd be on second.

Or Buxton would have grounded out and he'd be standing on first, creating the same situation.

3-1 count, the pitcher *had* to get it over the plate. Molitor should have enough faith in Buxton that he'd make contact.

Mauer likely doesn't score there, so clearly trying to sac bunt and failing is always the correct decision there.

After all, we probably don't score in that inning if the bunt is successful.

Yeah, I'm results oriented... That's why I agreed with the move the *moment* it was made.

No outs, you need one run. It makes all the sense in the world to pinch-run one of the fastest guys in all of baseball in that situation.

Hell, that's why pinch runners exist at all.

Yeah, because that's what he said......

Although I have to say Tonkin may have been the hero of this game. And Gibson gets a few superdelegates too.

No, superdelegates aren't committed until the WS.

Uhh, we won, you know that right? Let a little sunshine it.

Buxton ended up scoring the only run that inning. I have a hard time complaining too much about taking out one of the slower guys on the team and replacing him with one of the fastest guys in the league.

The Twins needed one run and they got it at least in part due to Buxton's speed.

Wasn't Sano's deceptive speed a huge part of the argument for those in favor of a move to the outfield? Now he's one of the slowest guys on the team when it fits this narrative?

Not arguing one point or the other. Just observing.
