Was that a double given up by Blackburn on an 0-2 pitch?

Have I mentioned my position on giving up solid contact on 0-2 pitches?

It was more of a single, but your primary point remains.

Time to cut a switch?

I'm "watching" on gamecast.

Interesting side note: According to gamecast, there have been a total of 3 pitches outside the strike zone through one inning.

Lots of pitches called a ball, but only 3 outside the strike zone.

I'm guessing gamecast's pitch location depiction isn't entirely, uh, accurate.

Given that this is Blackburn pitching, I'm just glad it stayed in the ballpark.

It was a ball that Revere dove for and had it hit the heel of his glove. If Span had been out there he doesn't even have a chance to make a play on the ball and it ends up a generic single.

To give him credit, Blackburn is starting off nicely. He's throwing strikes, he's keeping the ball down in the zone, and while he's given up 3 hits, they haven't been hit that hard (a shallow fly into center, a broken-bat bloop, and a shallow single).

You don't see that much - an outfielder trying to throw a runner out at first.

I remember, at the end of Harmon's career, that sometimes worked - he singled to right field but couldn't get down the baseline in time to beat the throw.

How dare you speak of Harmon that way. Blasphemy.

Hey, I loved watching him hit the bombs, but let's be honest - at the end he did get a bit big. I remember one time he came to the plate and the organist played "Roll out the barrel.":)

Is everyone afraid to jinx Blacksie tonight?

Got that nasty ERA down to 7.50!

Who woulda thought that Blackburn would pitch 6 shutout innings and not even have one 3-ball count!

Would you believe me if I said, "me?"

I didn't think he'd pitch this well. I did think (and say) that I expected 2 to 3 good starts from him before he has problems again. (Not to jinx him).

There just isn't anything predictable about this rotation right now. Of course, one could ask, what rotation? One or 2 cycles through it and then it changes again.

Anyone else think now would be an ideal time to sign Blackburn to a new 3 year, 30 million dollar deal?

I was thinking maybe we can trade him to someone now.

Ron Coomer just echoed my thought - his pitches are starting to get up in the zone. Let's hope he gets out of the inning and sits back for a deserved rest.

I would never admit that.
