The Twins are Healthy; that's something to comment about.

In previous years it has seemed some people (more on the comment section over at the Twins official site) have complained about how injury-prone the Twins are, pointing a finger at our organization as the worst of all possible organizations, mindless that similar "fans" are complaining exactly the same about their own organizations.

Regarding injuries, the Twins have had no significant injuries so far this year (as far as I know & knock on wood).

How about that?

Note: The Dodgers have six players most likely out for opening day, and The Angels, Cardinals, Mariners and Mets (to varying degrees) have four players likely out for opening day.

Only the Twins, White Sox, and Yankees have no players out with injury at this time.

We'll never know if the training staff was deficient last decade, it likely was dumb luck, but certainly the team has been much healthier not only this year, but the past several years. They only had 8 guys start games last year and one of those was J.R. Graham's bullpen game.

Unless, of course, all nine starters fall victim to nine separate
misfortunes and are unable to play in April.  But that will never happen.
Three misfortunes, that's possible.  Seven misfortunates, there's an
outside chance.  But nine misfortunes?  I'd like to see that!

The Twins should be in good shape as long as the team stays away from bottomless pits, brain and nerve tonic, and hypnotism.

Cautionary tale:   Five years ago, the Twins had a nearly injury-free spring--the only player to miss more than a day or two was Cuddy with a bunion or something. Before April was over, the team was ravaged with injuries. For the season, the only starter that didn't miss significant time was Cuddyer.

The Twins lost more than 90 games that year and stayed in the muck for three more seasons.

Cuddyer was indeed hobbled a bit in spring training 2011, playing only 8 games and recording 21 AB.  But it's not at all correct to say the team was nearly injury-free: Mauer played even less (8 games, 20 AB), the lowest spring training playing time of his career by far.  And Morneau only played 11 games, also career lows and about half as much as most healthy regulars, and batted .152/.194/.242 in his recently concussed state.  The pitching staff was healthier, although Nathan still looked very rough coming back from TJS that spring.
