Texas's remarkable playoff run

They have gone 29-16 since August 1st. When they traded for Hamels I thought the were crazy. He hasn't even been that good for them either. In the playoffs though, he could be a big factor.

Trying to win, when it isn't your year. That's what they decided to do. I hope they keep it up, and a lesson is learned.

Like we've mentioned in other threads, a team or 2 was going to get red hot in September to take over a division of WC spot. The Twins certainly could have been that team, and technically aren't out of it yet, but I'm losing faith in that each day.

 

Just like Mike said, we're watching 2 different philosophies of teams. Texas looked more hopeless than the Twins a few weeks ago. They called up reinforcements and have been successful. Meanwhile we sent our reinforcements home, or keeping them for that coveted AA championship...

Actually.....it's been the veterans of that team stepping up.

Hamels and Colby Lewis have been their best starting pitchers and the bullpen has been lights out.  They did call up a few youngsters, but it's the old talent leading the way.

Regardless of who's fueling the success, there's something to be said for players picking up their games after the front office showed they were willing to push their chips into the middle.
