Thielbar Claimed By Padres

The San Diego Padres claimed LHP Caleb Thielbar, who had been DFAd by the Twins a week ago.

 

Thielbar was a great story for the Twins. The Minnesota kid who went to South Dakota State. He spent time in the Brewers system, but then he got released. He played for the St. Paul Saints and the Twins signed him. he flew threw the Twins system and was the Twins rookie of the year in 2013. He spent most of 2014 with the Twins. He spent just a handful of days with the Twins this year.

 

Best wishes to Caleb Thielbar. Hopefully he gets a good opportunity there.

He had a great streak when he came up in 2013. I don't remember him pitching that horrible back in April. I'm sure he'll pitch in MLB again.

He will be 29 in the offseason, he has walked as many as he has struck out this season and has a WHIP of 1.50 in AAA.  I wish Caleb luck in San Diego, but it's not like they just lost a 22 year old with electric stuff

I realize his age and numbers.  He also was able to get big league hitters out on occasion, something most of the current relievers can't do.

yeah, I don't get the hate projected towards him. It's not like he signed a 50 million deal with the Twins and decided to not show up at all or something... It's a great story, I hope the guy is able to stick for a couple years and make a little scratch,
