Cast iron fried chicken is delicious when done right, the right spices in the batter, the right oil and perhaps most importantly, the right temperature.

I go to a place called the Tallest Poppy for fried chicken, scrumptious.

Oh boy do we have some goodies today!

Today is National Strawberry Sundae Day! I'd say strawberry ice cream is a top 3 flavor on the ranked list of all flavors. Now that strawberries are in season, cut up some fresh ones to put on top!

Today is also National Father/Daughter Take a Walk Day! A day to bond with your dad or son. So ChiTown if you're in FL, and always, take your dads out for a walk.

Today is also National Macaroni Day! I just learned a new recipe for mac and cheese that is out of this world! It's a little heavy on the calorie scale, as heavy cream is involved with the recipe, but my god is it good! What's your favorite dish with macaroni involved?

Finally, we all have heard the saying once or a couple hundred times, "This is the best thing since sliced bread!" Well, at one point in time there wasn't sliced bread, so that saying rang true on one particular day. That day is today! On July 7th, 1928, the first loaf of sliced bread was sold. We can all thank Otto Rohwedder for his invention of the bread slicer.

No strawberry ice cream in the house, but there are some strawberries in the fruit salad I'm having for breakfast.

I'll take my dogs for a walk, storms permitting. That's the closest I can come on either side of the equation.

Berries of all kind are abundant out here in Oregon. I have consumed crazy amounts of fresh berried the last 6 weeks. Yummy.

I may have to come freeload off you for a few days sometime. :)

Okay ... I want that mac n cheese recipe. Post it.

Yay! for sliced bread! I'm horrible at slicing bread ... it is NEVER even ... so I'm very happy for automated sliced bread!

Not in Florida with my Dad. :( Next month. And I'll take him for a walk. He can't walk too far at any one time, though, even with his walker. But from the car into the ice cream place and back is usually good. :)

Hmm ... strawberry sundae day? I have fresh strawberries ... I have vanilla ice cream ... hmmm and MMMMM. :)

You should go berry picking! Go hiking somewhere ... find some blackberries growing in the wild ... go picking ... but be careful of the little thorns.

Or better yet ... if Craig comes out and freeloads ... make him go pick the berries!

Fresh berries from a garden is one of life's simple pleasures... I've been consuming a crazy amount of peaches lately, as they're the best option for locally grown fruit right now.

All of this berry and fruit talk is inspiring me to go to a Farmer's Market this weekend!

1 box of Rigatoni noodles

In a skillet:

- Melt 1 stick butter
- Add Velveta cheese

- Heavy whipping cream

- add salt, pepper, and nutmeg to your liking

Mix the skillet sauce with the noodles, pour it all in a baking pan, and top it with cheddar cheese

Put that sucker in the oven at 375 degrees until the cheese is melted on top.

I can envision a small group of us taking the Empire Builder out that way one day ... it'll be the Twins train! ;)

Is it affiliated with a ML team? Or is it independent?

They still sell Velveeta? Nothing like edible oil products for a healthy diet.

Cutting large rounds of sourdough bread has to be one of the more annoying things in life. Hey bakery, just cut the damn thing already, k?

Hey, buddy -  Maybe not where you come from, but this is the goddamn U.S. of A.

Shells and Cheese with garlic, celery, mushroom, and cayenne.

I bet Spam would go well with that.

I should probably introduce my TX friends to "Spamwiches" Though I think breakfast tacos are a much better option than Spamwiches.

Depends on how you do it ... fry up a slice with a pineapple ring and some brown sugar.

But I still don't like it.
