Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Lager day appeared on some calendars, but not others. And, frankly, I'm not a lager guy.......but I had one just in case. Gingerbread Latte day.....I guess I should go downstairs for coffee then.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 If I had the choice, I'd go Lemon Squares >>>> Lemon Cupcake, but I'm not picky. I will eat anything lemon.

And, frankly, I'm not a lager guy.......but I had one just in case. Gingerbread Latte day.....I guess I should go downstairs for coffee then.Make sure to have that with a lemon cupcake. It's a good combo. Well, traditional gingerbread is often accompanied by a lemon sauce, so ... ginerbread latte, lemon cupcake ... close enough.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Finally, a day that we can work with here. Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. So let your freak flag fly and dip anything you want in chocolate! I'm going to get after some chocolate covered strawberries myself. It's also National Barbie and Barney Backlash Day. A day where you can pretend they do not exist, and I'm sure those with young children or had young children would cherish this day.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Tim-tams are basically chocolate covered chocolate wafers so I got this one covered.

A day where you can pretend they do not exist, and I'm sure those with young children or had young children would cherish this day. I had a Barbie when I was little. I broke her leg, put it back together with masking tape and that was her cast, and made crutches for her. You'd think I'd have become a doctor, an ortho doc at that, but no, I became a musician. And I think Barbie's are stupid. And creating a day to ignore them and pretend they don't exist only makes people think about them and know they do exist. Okay ... I need chocolate ... what a good combo day. Oh ... and I said a couple days ago that Chocolate Covered Anything Day was coming. I started early with that one.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I could eat chocolate covered raisins until I go into a coma.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I could eat chocolate covered raisins until I go into a coma.Really? I never would have guessed that would be a good combo. I love any fruit dipped in chocolate, but have yet to try out raisins.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 I could eat chocolate covered raisins until I go into a coma. How long would that take? Maybe you could put up a youtube video. With Hello playing in the background, while wearing a stormtrooper suit.....

The new dark chocolate ones are pretty damn good. http://i5.walmartimages.ca/images/Large/703/000/999999-68000703000.jpg
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Stay tuned.....If anything, this is the suit you should be wearing as you eat yourself into a coma....
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 How long would that take? Maybe you could put up a youtube video. With Hello playing in the background, while wearing a stormtrooper suit.....hahahaha ... which 'Hello'? Adele or Lionel Richie? I vote for the latter.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Mike, I'm also making one of your home made margaritas tonight when I get home from work. If I start posting jibberish later on, you know it's the liquor talking.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 hahahaha ... which 'Hello'? Adele or Lionel Richie? I vote for the latter.Clearly the latter,
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I'm moving a little slow this morning after making some of Mike's home made margaritas last night....This day is right up North's alley..... Today is National Maple Syrup Day! Or in Canada, today is Thursday. Today is also National Re-Gifting Day. Where you can try to re-gift something you received from your office secret santa. The best way to get around this, I've learned, is to put alcohol and pizza as the only gifts you'd like to receive from your Secret Santa. I've been thrilled to get a 6 pack of my favorite beer, and a pizza delivered to my desk so far.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Hope you enjoy that recipe.......but today is Star Wars day (an additional one, on top of May 4th). Everything else is secondary.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 That's true. May the force be with you all of you Star Wars fanatics.. This statement is very controversial, but Star Wars does nothing for me... I dated a die hard Star Wars fan for a while, where she made me watch the last 3 movies of the series. Just wasn't a fan....

So, you're my mom? Never would have guessed that..... edit: just the part before the ellipses, I don't think she's ever dated a woman
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Certainly right Van, everyday is Maple Syrup Day, had some with my morning coffee, along with a maple glazed donut and a maple sugar cookie ( it's Christmas). In fact, with the hard times in the oil industry these days, Maple Syrup is keeping the economy afloat, with exports to Japan accounting for approx. 50% of current GDP. In fact, Maple Syrup is the only reason we keep Quebec as part of confederation. I believe it was a question in the last referendum. Edit. Darth Vader is the greatest villan/hero in cinematic history.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 In honor of yesterday's Anything Dipped in Chocolate Day, the brewery near my apartment has a new seasonal out called Choco Leche Chocolate Milk Stout. I will be trying this, along with their supremely popular seasonal Sputnik - a Russian Imperial Stout fused with coffee. http://austinbeerworks.com/

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Maybe we should consider a bottle exchange some day. I'll think about that....Unfortunately they don't bottle Sputnik or the Chocolate Milk Stout. It's all fresh from the kegs. For $10 you get a new bar glass, and 3 pours of whatever you want. Otherwise they sell it to other bars in the area, and you can buy a 40 oz growler to take it home with you.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I will ask when I am there this evening. I'm pretty sure there would be a riot from Austinites if a keg traveled beyond Texas borders....

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Edit. Darth Vader is the greatest villan/hero in cinematic history.I'm still waiting for a closer to use the Darth Vader theme as their 'walk from the pen to the mound' music.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 The Sputnik beer was spot on last night, and the Chocolate Milk Stout was pretty good as well. On a scale of 1-10, Sputnik was a 9.5, and Chocolate Milk Stout 7.5.Also Craig, here's the direct quote from the bartender when I asked how much a keg is... "We would kill you first before selling an entire keg of Sputnik."Today is National Roast Suckling Pig Day! I'd be all over that if someone wanted to start roasting a pig over an open flame here.....Today is also National Underdog Day! Or in TD land, today is Friday.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 And....today is....pfeffernuss day. My grandmother and mother both used to make huge batches of these. I like them. I miss them, sort of.
