Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 That's an awful lot of crunchy votes, and here I thought we could avoid calling each other stupid* on one thread.....oh well. *not that I am saying you are generally stupid, just, you know, on this one topic where you clearly are.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 2 votes for creamy, 2 for crunchy. Can't get any more controversial than that!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Peanut butter fudge? I'm going to pretend its just peanut butter. Crunchy >>>>>>>> Creamy. Also natural >>>>>>>> not natural. Source: daily peanut butter eater. Creamy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CrunchyNatural >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> not natural (agreed) Source: hourly peanut butter eater My source >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Your source
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 I agree on the natural, btw. Huge difference. But, I disagree you can turn crunchy into creamy by chewing, I still start with crunchy. You COULD, however, buy creamy and add nuts and have crunchy if you were so inclined....
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 (Raises hand) I'll drive a sports car everyday! Even in the snow! Apple slices + PB dip is a great snack too. Better/healthier choice than carmel.Bananas, too; and celery; and crackers; and ... Oh, and grilled PB and cheese ... yes!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Creamy is the equivalent to a Honda Accord. Reliable, trustworthy, the kind of PB you'll enjoy any day.But sometimes, you need that THRILL. A change from your routine. Crunchy is the sports car of PB. Can't use it every day, but every so often it hits the spot. Crunchy is the sports car of PB? Then creamy is the Rolls of PB. Guess it depends on the experience you want to have ... speed or class!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Crunchy? Is that still a disgusting thing?Yes.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Bananas, too; and celery; Oh, and grilled PB and cheese ... yes!To coin your own specialty word, ISH. That's one instance in which I will NOT eat cheese. But it's not the cheese's fault.

I've been called much worse things in my lifetime! The problem is, as it so often happens, in this instance, stupid is clearly right.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 To coin your own specialty word, ISH. That's one instance in which I will NOT eat cheese. But it's not the cheese's fault. Don't knock 'til you've tried it. It does depend on the cheese, however. For instance, I wouldn't use Onion and Chive Cotswold with PB. Go with a Vermont cheddar.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Since we all agree natural >>>>>>> not natural, this should be easy. Fact: natural peanut butter is runny. Fact: creamy natural peanut butter is runnier than crunchy natural peanut butter. Fact: if you eat a creamy natural peanut butter sandwich/celery/etc you will wind up with >>>>>>>>>> peanut butter on your lap than if you had used crunchy peanut butter.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Crunchy................AINEC. Also, Cottage cheese is gross.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Not much of a peanut butter person, but give me blackberry jam and honey and I'll be quite happy.

PB one side and cheddar cheese the other and then grill away? My stomach is turning at the thought...a feeling I don't normally experience.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Well...I haven't eaten yet...I suppose it calls for creamy peanut butter? And what do you do anyway? PB one side and cheddar cheese the other and then grill away? My stomach is turning at the thought...a feeling I don't normally experience.Yes, basically; slap the two sides together and grill, fry, whatever ... as you would a grilled cheese sammy.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 And? AND????A glass of mead to go with it? Oh, I suppose a spoon would be useful.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Not much of a peanut butter person, but give me blackberry jam and honey and I'll be quite happy.PB goes with both those things quite nicely.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 PB goes with both those things quite nicely. If that was peanut brittle instead, I'm in.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Yes, basically; slap the two sides together and grill, fry, whatever ... as you would a grilled cheese sammy. So I made the sandwich...and then realized that we don't have any PB in the house. Mr. Sixel's son obviously doesn't reside here. Anyway, I'm disinclined to substitute almond butter for peanut butter, at least in this instance. You have to give me credit for the attempt.

Yeah, don't use almond butter. And you put the PB on BEFORE the grilling stage ... so that the PB melt into the cheese or vice versa.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 My wife eats almond butter by the spoonful before she goes and works out at 6 am......and also it is good mixed in with my oatmeal. But, admittedly, it is a bit chunky.....more gritty, really.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I put PB in my smoothes, when I make them. One banana, CREAMY PB to taste, oatmeal (1/4-1/3 C), milk (1 C), puree, blend, mix, whatever, until thick and frothy. Yum!
formerly33 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Yeah, don't use almond butter. And you put the PB on BEFORE the grilling stage ... so that the PB melt into the cheese or vice versa.I should have verified...I made it and then looked for the PB yes, before I grilled it...I was frying it when I made the post. I don't know whether to be more relieved that I was spared the disgustingness of the sandwich or regretful that I can't come back with a scathing report of your tastes.

If you don't like it after you've tried it, all I can say is you probably did it wrong.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 Sigh. Spent a lot of today cooking a great vegetable tart. But the crust was too small, and there was not room for all the custard. Now I have something only potentially edible.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Sorry to hear that Mike, but that's what you get for cooking with vegetables. For me it was the combo of custard and vegetables. Ptewy!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 I promise you would like this. It wend back in the oven a couple times.....and it turned out nice, but not as good as it has in the past. Plus, my wife finished it up, which made me feel bad since I was trying to give her a day off......oh well. It isn't custardy at all, just 2 eggs and a cup of cream for 6-8 servings.....
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 We have a couple of decent choices today....Today is National Cashew Day. There's several dishes that I like cashews in, and they are good on their own too. I will say it's not my favorite nut; that award goes to Pistachios. Most notably the salt and pepper pistachios from Costco. Today is also National Espresso Day. If I am in a coffee shop, that's one of my favorites to order. Most days I'm just a regular coffee with a little bit of cream guy. Finally it's National Eat a Cranberry Day. I only get my cranberry fix around Thanksgiving, and I don't seek the fruit any other time of the year.
