ashbury Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I wasn't going to comment on Colin Cowherd getting himself fired over comments on Dominican baseball players, shortly in advance of him leaving for another network anyway. But inveterate tweeter Old Hoss Radbourn posted the following which I found amusing: R. E. Lee joins the Confederacy. Union press release:Gen. Lee's actions are inconsistent with our values. He will no longer fight for us.
kab21 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I have started listening to a lot of ESPN podcasts/radio and Colin Cowherd is absolutely painful to listen to. Many times he doesn't even understand how things like salary caps, FA and other confusing but important things work when analyzing moves or potential moves.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I haven't listened to Cowherd for years. Too d*mn loud and obnoxious. If he comes on the radio, I turn it off.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I can't stand him. His personality is so grating; he's absolutely tactless on so many topics. He reminds me of less-articulate less-clever Jim Rome. When he comes across my radio dial, I always listen for a moment, mostly out of schadenfreude. About month ago he was ranting about how awful paid paternity leave was. Ugh. Good riddance.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 He never bothered me that much, except for one trait: when he had a famous guest, a genuinely "good get" for his or anybody's show, he would be obsequious and never contradict anything at all.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Never heard of him. Sounds like a real charmer.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I think I'd pay to listen to Jim Rome rather than listen to Cowherd for free. He's terrible. ESPN has actually put together some solid podcast crews (interesting because their TV baseball, football, and basketball crews have only gotten more and more terrible), but Cowherd was definitely the sore spot on their radio/podcasting lineup.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Listening to Cowherd is like watching First Take. So by that I mean worthy of eye-gouging.
kab21 Verified Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I think the basketball podcasts are top notch. I can't listen to Buster or any of the other baseball podcasts though. They are so boring.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I think the basketball podcasts are top notch. I can't listen to Buster or any of the other baseball podcasts though. They are so boring. I can take or leave Eric Karabell, but Tristan Cockcroft explaining his reasoning with fantasy baseball is excellent. I'm also a big fan of Matt Williamson for football podcasts.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I have heard approximately 15 minutes of Cowherd in my life. How does someone like that get a national radio gig? How does he have an audience? These things are mystifying to me.
