1,000 baseball player thread

I have not looked at all the posts, but I doubt this guy has been mentioned.  At age 18, had one of the best single-game careers ever: John Paciorek

 

3-3, 2 BB,  3 RBI, 4 Runs.

 

Never played again.

The three Paciorek brothers were an interesting bunch.  Tom had an 18 season career, 1970-87.    John had his one game in 1963, at age 18, and the third brother, Jim, debuted in Tom's final season, 1987.

Looking up one of my favorites sent me off on a tangent, so my post will be a trilogy. I didn't go through all the posts either so hopefully they aren't duplicates.

 

One of my favorite players and a really nice guy that I used to go watch when I was a teenager at Albuquerque Dukes games:

 

Mike Devereaux

 

Played a little for the Dodgers then was traded to the Orioles where he had some pretty good seasons and then bounced around a bit before calling it quits.

Who I completely forgot played part of a season for the Twins until looking at his baseball reference page. I was amazed at the number of team/uniform # combinations he had (17) and couldn't remember if he held the record for playing for the most teams.

Which led me to:

 

Octavio Dotel

 

I kind of remember hearing about him breaking Morgan's record a couple years ago, but he only had 15 team/# combos, which sends me out on a new search to try and figure out if anyone had more than Mike Morgan's 17.

Matt Stairs had 19

 

He actually played for 13 different teams just like Dotel, but I guess doesn't qualify to be tied because he started his career with the Expos and ended with the Nationals which are considered the same organization?

Back to the "double letter" former Twins.  "TT" was the last one posted.  To my knowledge, there have been no Twins with  "UU",  "VV", "WW", "XX", "YY" or "ZZ".  Thus that sub-topic is done.  So, I'll add a non Twins player with double initials - Walt Weiss - the 1988 A.L. Rookie of the Year.

I cheated because I thought it was still one award for all of baseball still then, and I knew '51 was Mays' year, so I wouldn't have guessed that guy. Someone you definitely don't think of when you think of the 50s and 60s Yankee great teams, but he was a consistent cog for them, even made 5 All-Star teams!
