Good to be the Royals...

Just DFA'ed Jason Frasor (with his 1.54 era). Would be the third best reliever on the Twins.

I'm sure the Twins claim him, but I assume the Royals can work out a trade so it's moot.

Less than 7Ks per 9 IP and almost 6 BB per 9 IP. WHIP of 1.671.

Not sure how he's done with inherited runs, but it'd be interesting to find out.

Didn't realize his bb rate was so high. Looks like his strand rate is pretty unsustainable and his hr rate is way down too, though his babip is suprisingly high for a Royals pitcher. Maybe his stuff is just down that much and he has been lucky on stranding runners and surrendering fewer bombs.

All I could find is he has had 16 inherited runners.

Edit, I THINK it's 5 in 26 appearances.

Is it sad that even with all those warts and unsustainable luck I'm still sort of tempted?

Not sad. I'm very tempted. But I also think he gets traded elsewhere.

Yes, because he's been bad. Striking out too little, walking way too many, letting way too many on base and roughly 1/3 of inherited runners have scored.

I don't see him improving the bullpen any more than a guy like Achter could. Frasor's ERA looks like a total fluke. We'd be cursing him a week after we got him.

To be fair, Frasor's inherited runners scored percentage this year is exactly the same as the overall league rate (31%).

true, but his K rate, walk rate and WHIP are horrendous.

Would be nice to see the Twins act on peripherals instead of waiting for regression to cost them games first. I'm slightly jealous of Royals fans right now.

Much easier to act on peripherals when you have superior options.

Definitely. Having moved for guys like Davis, Herrera, Hochevar, Madson, etc. allows the Royals to shed lesser talents. Perhaps the Twins should make similar moves so they can enjoy the same luxury.

Be interesting to see how the Royals bullpen fares in September with the number of innings their starters are pitching. Frasor would probably not help the Twins, so I am glad he will be traded elsewhere.

I was thinking of this and then the Braves did exactly what has made this great Royals bullpen happen - using their excellent major-league ready pitching in the major league bullpen rather than have them rot in a AAA rotation. Mike Foltynewicz has been called up to move into the Braves bullpen, and right now, I could make the argument that about 1/3 of the AA/AAA rotation members would be better options than are currently in the Braves bullpen.

We'll see 3 years down the road if this truly costs the Royals in a quality rotation due to rushing guys to the majors in the bullpen who are never able to transition back to the rotation. That said, it's not hurt David Price at all.
