So that happened. Hats off to Samardzija. But come on. 4 pitches to the fearsome David Beckham. Sheesh. Well, at least there's rugby on soon.

Whoa, a fellow rugby fan, that's rare.

About a month ago... I was driving home and rolling by my wife's parents place on the way. They live about an hour away. Anyway... My wife wanted me to stop and pick up an old photo that she needed... You know since I was rolling through... that way nobody had to make an hour trip just to pick up the photo.

So I'm driving along... Just being me.

and I totally forget to stop... Not only did I forget...  I didn't recall for the entire hour on the drive home.

So... I was completely unprepared when I walked in the door and my wife immediately asked me.

Did you get the picture?

You get that immediate OMG... I really screwed up feeling when she jogs your memory like that.

So... I paused and said... No... Umm... No I didn't... would you settle for a thousand words.

To finish the story... She didn't think my thousand words joke was funny at all.

I liked it too. But apparently actions have a favorable exchange rate with words comparable to pictures...

Meh, if i remember 3 hour drive is like a sandwich? So this is like toast?

Anyway, best to ya on the move! Glad you were so appreciated at work. 25 years is... Well, it's something to think about what i was up to 25 years ago.

LOL... Story was unrelated... I just thought of it.

You type whatever you want to type. That's the Spirit of the Game Thread open.

True.

That's what i like about 'em.

On a vaguely related note, preacher is worth a thousand wards...

I really don't know if that will help us with the jinxes though.

G'night! Long day of sorts on my end.

Well, they were bound to lose a game again. Shake it off, and let's get em' tomorrow.

The game tomorrow is sold out. It's Paul Konerko day and they will be retiring his number. Lots of hepped up fans.

Well...I'm not so sure about preachers, but I've heard the same said about pictures. And I'm including some of those, too. Does that up my word count to...um...10,000?

There's a new Sheriff in town..........well, at least until Tuesday.

Don't tell Chief I said that, K?

I didn't move anyone around, I have no idea what's going on.

Do we get to call you older than dirt, too?

I don't know what you two are referencing to, but North's post reminded me of The Reformation of Calliope by O. Henry. That's a scary thought indeed.

Good. The boys need to be tested. Paul deserves this honor and I am happy for him. The Twins will come prepared and won't be gutted like fish in a Tokyo Seafood marketplace no matter the attendance or event.

My keyword for the Twins tomorrow is "Lex Talionis"!

Well, if that is the case. Twins North was in his 40's when he witnessed the execution of Louis Riel. He also is the great, great uncle of Maurice "Rocket" Richard.

Wow. He stayed in his 40's a long time. I guess he's kind of timeless...like how Chief's still going to be on here when I'm in my 40's. I wonder if I will be able to pull it off that well.

Somebody once mistook me for Ma Barker.

I miss the Rocket, surprised I outlived him.

Riel was a brave soul.

I prefer the term " timeless ".

Thx

So, I was all set to troll the White Sox and enjoy the game and...my cousin from MN drops by to do some work on his daughter's car.

The Twins score early and right away, my cousin starts in with the negative waves..right up to Plouffe's game ending at bat.

Ah well, there's always today and tomorrow.
