I see what you're saying. But does Sam Fuld hold absolutely zero value? Would a team who needed SP, and potentially had an excess at another position be okay sliding Milone into their spot and giving up something potentially somewhat useful? Milone is NOT good. But does he not have value as someone who can throw a ball for potentially 6 innings, irritate some particularly sensitive LH hitters, and be relatively inexpensive? There is value there-- not a ton--but it is there.

Teams need starting pitching, in excess amounts, and Milone is just that: A somewhat sub-replacement level, soft tossing, south paw. No one expects him to dominate, but then again, most pitchers don't dominate. Aside from teams that stock pile Cy Young winners, most teams have one or two below average guys taking up spots on their roster. Why couldn't Milone be one of them for another team?

Remember in SuperBad when the two main characters are lamenting about their bad luck and poor prospects with women? One of them says, "You always hear about women talking about how they made a mistake when they slept with such and such a guy? We could be that mistake!"

Milone will pitch for someone this season, and it may be the Twins, or possibly someone else. Bottom line, someome will have use for his very specific skil set.

Minor nit, Milone was Super 2 arb eligible this winter, hence his ~$2.7 mil salary.

fair enough.  thanks for the correction. either way, he's already been around for a guy who is supposedly so good based on ERA and win/loss.  if he was so good/valuable, I doubt he's on team #3 before hitting his first arbitration year (based on super two), traded for Sam Fuld and fighting for a #5 spot on a bad rotation.

I believe this presents an opportunity for Molitor to tell Pelfry to blow it out his ass while developing some experience managing a big leage clubhouse.
