I was trying to recall whether it was Harmon or Jim Thome that made it a point to make sure that the signature was very legible. I watched Thome take a great deal of time to sign a ball for us at a breakfast benefit one morning. He just had to make it right.

Yup. I haven't been able to find a single other autograph of Sano's that looks like the one I got with the help of Tommy Watkins at ST three years ago. Kinda frustrating actually, especially if one is a collector!

I agree Jeremy, this is irritating. One of my prized possessions is a Torii Hunter autographed baseball card from when he first came up and his name is perfectly spelled out. Sometimes I forget to write down who signed something and then it's useless to me because I can't remember who it is! Any baseball player who takes the time to spell his name legibly so that it's a great keepsake for that fan definitely gets his gold star in my book.

An article I've been waiting all off-season to write: (Insert Twins player/prospect name) aint Harmon.

fin.

More than anything, I think this post just makes me wish that I would have gotten a chance to see Harmon play at the Met. My dad was lucky enough to catch a game or two there when he was a wee lad. Pretty neat.

Someone mentioned Cuddyer's nice signature earlier and it reminded me of this Killebrew-inspired story that he started signing that way because of a Killebrew scolding:

I also learned in a different article about the signature story that Cuddyer wore #3 with the Rockies to honor Harmon.  Neat.

As a third, semi-related point... I've always man-crushed on that Cuddy-Buddy Mikey Baseball.
