Arcia Injury/Update

Why do I feel the Twins get stuck in these endless cycles?  I know this isn't unusual -- just grumbling.

The Twins’ projected starting left fielder hasn’t played since Dec. 10 for Caribes in the Venezuelan Winter League. According to local news reports, Arcia is dealing with a tendon issue in his right hand, suffered while grounding out to second in the sixth inning of a 9-8 loss to Aragua.

X-rays taken the following day were negative, and Caribes officials described the injury as minor when asked by local media.

Arcia, 23, was replaced in left field at the start of the next inning and hasn’t played since. Caribes has already clinched a playoff spot, so there’s no hurry to return Arcia to the lineup until the round-robin tournament begins on Jan. 2.

To some extent Berardino is just rehashing but how I'd love to see a healthy season.

WHEW! don't scare me like that. I was thinking ACL or Tommy John or he lost a finger or something.

Happy to jump start your adrenaline.  :)

Huh, that must have been some kinda jam.

I hope this isn't related to the wrist thing he battled last year.

If it's truly minor, at least they are playing it extremely safe. In that case, it doesn't hurt to let him stay and taste playoffs (even if it's just winter ball).

Yeah, I'm hoping along with you.

I am expecting some really good things from "The Matador's" bat this year. When he is on, he is a joy to watch at the dish.

Nature of the game these days, once they started testing for roids/HGH guys get hurt more often/can't recover as quickly?

Oswaldo Arcia still not taking BP, however says "hand feels much better" @MikeBerardino #MNTwins

Well since some idiot spammer bumped this up anyway, I did see a tweet that Arcia took BP yesterday.  Good news!

Per Berardino, he is out at least 5-6 days with a back issues.  Says Arcia has dealt with a string of nagging injuries.

Don't worry guys, if glass breaks, you can just melt it down and reshape it into something new. I assume the same goes for players made of glass. Maybe we can combine Buxton/Sano/Arcia into a supermegastar. Better than a bunch of broken shards.

With the round robin postseason set to begin for the Liga Venezuela Beisbol Profesional, Minnesota Twins outfielder Oswaldo Arcia remains sidelined with a back injury. Yesterday, ElEmergente.com speculated that Arcia could be out for the team's 14-game postseason:

Today, Pedro Mena, the general manager of Arica's team, Caribes de Anzoategui, told ElEmergente.com that the team is waiting to see how Arcia's back responds before considering him out for the postseason. "The idea is to rest but I think in a couple of days at least [he] could be with the team," said Mena.

What do you think? Should Arcia attempt to play in the offseason or remain on the bench to ensure he is healthy for spring training?

There's always risk of injury (or further injury)  for players playing in the winter leagues, and Spring Training is going to be here very soon, but I think if Arcia feels like he can play, he should.

No substitute for a playoff atmosphere, it's good experience for a guy that hopefully will be getting some playoff at bats in the majors in the next few years.

On the bench.  He's had nagging injuries the whole off-season.  Time to get healthy -- the Twins' season will be long -- no need to go into it at less than his best,
