Linus Verified Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 This just in, Tigers obtained Cespedes straight up for Porcello. Very interesting move which makes me wonder if the Tigers are now going to take a run at a starter...... The White Sox captured the attention on the first day. Detroit is now wrapping up the week with a flurry of moves. What say you....?

Brandon Verified Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Did you see what LA Dodgers did yesterday and today? Kemp goneHaren goneDee Gorden gone10 million in cash to Marlins gone welcome KendrickBrandon McCarthy 4 year 48 millionGrandalJimmy Rollins That's a new 2B and SS and C and replacement starting pitcher for Haren
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Dodgers are definitely better now, and cheaper.

The current roster may be cheaper, but they threw in a lot of money with Kemp, Gordon and Haren. I like the middle infield but that roster is looking pretty old, they're going to look like the Yankees pretty quickly. Kendrick is a good player, but I think I'd rather have kept Heaney and let the Cubans battle it out for 2B.

I like the deal for the Angels, I am pretty high on Heaney.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 They got rid of Kemp, and added Pederson.....they aren't getting younger at every position in one year......I think they weren't getting rid of any other OFer, so Kemp was the one to go. Maybe they could have done better, but I'm not sure. And, yes, Kendrik is older than Gordon, but he's better too. When he gets too old, they'll just go buy another guy, that's what near infinite revenue does for a front office.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Guerrero must be a bad defender.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I'm surprised they didn't plug Guerrero into 2B Yeah, I thought they'd let Guerrero or Arruebarrena fight it out for 2B. Both look to have a pretty nice bat for middle infielders, even by PCL standards. Sure the Dodgers can just go buy Heaney in seven years when he's a free agent and they can buy the David Prices' and Jeff Samardzjias in the mean time, but if you don't need to blow cash, why would you? There is plenty of benefit to every team in trying to groom their own cheaply controled young studs. As a Twins fan, I'd rather play Heaney and Guerrero than Kendrick.
kab21 Verified Member Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Arruebarrena won't hit much in the majors. He's all glove despite his SSS. Guerrero is pretty interesting. I think the other factor is that Kendrick will certainly bring back a draft pick next offseason while giving the Dodgers a top 5 2Bman this year. I also think Heaney is overrated based on his MiLB #'s. His stuff is okay but nothing great.
