twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Nice escape!!!! It may not be pretty but that's not Psycho Frankie...averaging 1K/inning
Alex Verified Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Just saw this from Joe Christensen via twitter, about as sardonic as I've seen him: #Twins offense flailing away against Jerome Williams in an attempt to take Liriano out of the headlines. #Angels lead 4-0 (bot 5th).
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Clete Thomas has struck out 12 times in his last 8 at bats.
deanlambrecht Verified Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I dunno. 5.1 IP, 7 hits, 3 BB, 4 ER, leaves the game with a runner on base after 91 pitches. Sounds like he got lit up to me. Tough to stay positive. I'd already resigned myself to a bad year before the season started, just hoping to recover some ground and that the team would realize they need to rebuild. I was looking forward to watching some players develop and had my fingers crossed for M & M. Carroll's been fun to watch - I was one of the few fans of that move and he's delivered exactly as promised. I like that Ryan grabbed some offensive show to keep butts in seats, but this team's starting pitching is almost indescribably terrible. I didn't expect much from Liriano, but he's a complete joke, and he was the hope of the rotation. In the words of The Dude, "that's a bummer, man."
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 This game is worse than last night's. And tomorrow I have tickets to see Weaver shut us out. I am praying for rain.
striker_86 Provisional Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 At least KC has already lost.lol, at this rate though, how long can we hang with them!
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Roy Smalley is a JOKE! Even Dick Bremer and Seth Stohs can't compete with his homerism!buh-dump-bump!!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 That Howie Kendrick has been one busy dude.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Twelve in a row retired by (hack) pitcher Jerome Williams. Only Span has looked decent at the plate tonight.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 That Howie Kendrick has been one busy dude. And he does not even have to move very much.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Clete Thomas has struck out 12 times in his last 8 at bats.Well played. (And...that's a better record than Bill Smith!)
asmus_ndsu Provisional Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I cant really watch the game, just gameday... And does jerome williams have the best sinker in existence or what? It looks like nothing is even making it out of the infield, or in the air for that matter

It feels like they gave up after the first inning.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I swear to god Howie Kendrick has made every out.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I swear to god Howie Kendrick has made every out.It sure feels that way. And Mauer has been his best customer -- three easy rollers to second.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 At least Liriano reduced his ERA below 10 -- he is now at 9.97
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Kendrick at bat -- needs a double to make the cycle.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Two Twins strike out looking to open the 9th. Someone at least take a swing, please!

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Jerome Williams does that pitch to contact crap pretty well.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 When we hit like this I think to myself, "are we this bad or is the pitcher really this good?" In the final analysis, we make pitchers much better than they are, and too often.
Land Of 10,000 Beasts Provisional Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Yep, this is the most pathetic game I have watched so far. Why Twins why.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Just a reminder for the hell of it: Jerome Williams was a Twin (briefly) in 2007. He signed and played for Rochester. The powers of being did not think he was good enough. Gotta love the Twins' braintrust

The powers of being did not think he was good enough. Gotta love the Twins' braintrustCan't decide if I'm outraged or don't care at this point. I'm authentically mad that I don't care about the Twins (as much.... not not at all) this year. But I'm trying to keep my chips in the pot.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 And tomorrow Weaver will be pitching. I wonder what odds Vegas would give against Weaver pitching a shutout tomorrow?

The powers of being did not think he was good enough. Gotta love the Twins' braintrustThat's a big WHATEVER! You mean just after he developed rotator cuff issues and lit up double A ball with an ERA over 9? He's done nothing since, until last year when he notched a few wins. He pitched a good game tonight, we helped, he wasn't exactly a can't miss prospect back in '07, except on your list I assume. If he played for the Twins now, everyone would be cutting him up about being another Terry Ryan pitch to contact droid.

The powers of being did not think he was good enough. Gotta love the Twins' braintrustHe wasn't really good enough. He was forced to start 2008 in independant ball. He didn't pitch a major league inning between 2008-2010. He's 30 yrs old. He came into tonight with an ERA over 5 and a WHIP of 1.47. Just because someone pitches a good game, doesn't make them an all star. Liriano tossed a no hitter. This had more to do with the Twins lineup than the Angels starter.
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Jerome Williams pitched a three-hitter Tuesday in a 4-0 win over the Twins. Williams faced just 29 batters in his second career shutout and first complete game since July 7, 2003. His previous shutout came June 27, 2003 against the A's.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Lineups: Span - CFCasilla -2bMauer - dhWillingham - lfValencia - 3bDoumit - CParmelee - 1BThomas - RFCarroll - SS Let's see, here is the Opening Day lineup, about which some of us were enthused as being above-average: 1. Denard Span, CF2. Jamey Carroll, SS3. Joe Mauer, C4. Justin Morneau, DH5. Josh Willingham, LF6. Ryan Doumit, RF7. Danny Valencia, 3B8. Chris Parmelee, 1B9. Alexi Casilla, 2B What's the difference between these two (forgetting defense)? Morneau out, Clete in. Is that all it takes to become a shutout victim to a very ordinary pitcher? Morneau for MVP, so far!
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
