  1. His line looks similar to Carl Pavano's, just not as durable and gives up more walks. Nothing to get too excited for, but it's at least somebody so I can't complain.
  2. I think I am the only one of the face of the earth that actually likes the guy(I fricken bought his jersey when he was on the Twins). Maybe I just feel sorry for the guy.
  3. According to Ryan, you aren't getting a pitcher unless it's a multi-year deal. Would Marcum be an exception to that?
  4. Count me in!!! -Caleb Loge
  5. I second that notion. I understand the necessity of ads, but that one is just annoying. Otherwise I love the new layout it's awesome.
  6. I like Plouffe's attitude so much more than Valencia's. He is humble and hardworking, something that I don't think Valencia had. Besides, he isn't completely healthy. Give it time. His hot streak wasn't a fluke; we haven't seen the end of Plouffe.
  7. I really hope they don't move the fences in. I'd rather see them move them out further. Our pitching staff can use all of the advantages it can get!
  8. Great work as always Parker. Let's just all hope he can be consistent and keep this going for years to come.
  9. I have been quite absent from this thread, but I have still payed attention to Ray and he has been doing really well lately. After his 7 RBI, 2 HR performance last night, he is now batting .333 his last 10 games and more importantly has averaged less than a strikeout a game.
  10. I was gonna add a 9th but I just couldn't top that. That was brilliant sir.
  11. Thank you sir for posting this. It's easy for us as fans to blame the owners for all of our troubles. The reality is that if something is not a smart business decision, then why do it? This is a business, not a charity.
  12. I love Hunter, but I hope he doesn't come back for us next year. I don't want to sacrifice a prospect's playing time for a bit of nostalgia. It's a nice thought, but I would rather see Revere or Benson play.
  13. Thank you, Nick. Great article.
  14. The Twins need to find and identify their core by picking a group of players that are essentially unmovable. Mauer really is the only guy who makes that list at this point. Once they have a group of players who they want as their long term nucleus, trade anyone who has value that they feel won't be in their long term plans. Maybe it's Morneau, maybe Willingham, maybe like you said Liriano. I know what I'm saying is kind of obvious but it's the blatant truth that the front office needs to look at and decide in the next month or so. Lest they panic and make moves that make us fans scratch our heads and think, "what the hell were they thinking?"
  15. The thing that has been kinda bugging me is that Bryce Harper has set up a precedent upon which top prospects are going to be judged. This Jordan Garretson is a clear example of that. What, did he think that just because he was drafted 2nd overall that he was going to be hitting bombs left and right like Harper? First, Buxton is only 18! Most 18 year old prospects are still eating their graduation cake. Second, Bryce Harper is a freak of nature. You can't really compare the two. Besides, I don't know about you, but spraying line drives around the field sounds good to me given this guy's circumstances. Byron Buxton has a very, very high ceiling. Higher than most prospects out there. But he is just that right now, a prospect. They require time, in his case at least a few years.
  16. I agree, although I'm afraid his value is only going to diminish. I'd say trade him now if we can a halfway decent pitching prospect, but don't just dump him for basically nothing like we did with Delmon Young.
  17. I was just thinking about that earlier. It obviously isn't my favorite, but it certainly was something special.
  18. That didn't take long Seriously what was Bill Smith thinking? Oh well. I guess Cappsy hasn't been toooo bad.
  19. I'm glad I'm not the only one to think this worthy of discussion. It seems like all it takes is one bad start from him to remove him from the all star talk altogether. If this trend continues however, I would be a little surprised if he didn't make, seeing as Chris Sale leads the AL(among qualifiers) with an ERA of 2.05.
  20. Too early to tell. If we can play .500 ball til the trade deadline, I doubt we will make any drastic trades like a Mourneau, Willingham, or Span trade. They want to appease to the fans so we keep coming and buying $8 beers.
  21. I think the general consensus is that if Mauer(or somebody else) doesn't get voted in, Josh Willingham will get selected to represent the Twins in the All Star Game, and deservedly so. However, I think one could make the argument that Scott Diamond could also take that place, assuming we are gonna have just 1 representative. He is 5-1 now with an ERA of just 1.61. His BB/9 is an amazing 0.81. Now I am aware that he only has 7 starts so far this season so for all I know he might not even be eligible, but if Diamond continues to pitch gems(pun intended), then I would have no problem having him represent us in the All Star Game. Did I get too much sun today or does anybody agree with me?
  22. When I read this I thought you were talking about the guy who went what was it like 0 for 50 to start off his career? I think he played for the A's. Anyway, Plouffe has been hot but I wouldn't compare him to the Viking all time great. I was impressed with his defense today however.
  23. You're right, he has kept his strikeouts down. I wish I could watch some of the Miracle games so I could analyze him further. All I have to go off of is stat sheets and make my observations that way.
  24. I like Span but we have plenty of young outfielders ready to get their feet wet so I wouldn't complain if we traded him to any of these teams. I don't really care who we trade him to, as long as it isn't within the division and not to the Yankees, not that they would want him.
