Buxton out til May

Nothing in there about the nature of the wrist injury... the lack of detail is frustrating.

The Twins' medical staff is just as frustrating, for that matter.

Who trusts this timeline?

I'm curious how an initial diagnosis of a week turned into potentially 2+ months?

Did he aggravate the injury?

Did you stop following the Twins for a year or three to even ask that question?

He dove and made a catch and came out and said it hurt. Sounds like a sprained wrist, which is day-to-day, but they'll be cautious.

A few days later, after some swelling goes down, they're able to take a first full look into what it was and what was bothering him. They then determine that it wasn't just a sprained wrist. There is now pain in the flexor. The Twins official diagnosis is "sprain of the pisotriquetral joint" and say it is a slow-healing injury and that Buxton would not return to baseball activities for awhile. There's no given timetable for this injury...

I don't know why anyone thought he wouldn't be out until May when that came out at the end of March.

No misdiagnosis. nothing hidden.

Two months in Fort Myers, two months in New Britain. Potential September call. Otherwise, June 2015, the Buxton-Sano-Rosario (likely) show starts. To quote Walter from "The Big Lebowski" . . . "nothing is ____ here Dude, nothing . . . is . . . ____."

Maybe it isn't a misdiagnosis but it certainly was an optimistic diagnosis. If the 2 options are that it is a minor sprain that can be played on after 10 days or it is a much more serious sprain that can't be played on for 1.5-2 months then give use the pessimistic diagnosis. The Twins have such a record of failure that they are not given the benefit of the doubt on things like this and should play this conservatively.
