Twins Top 65 Prospects (51-65 and HM)

I have scrapped my earlier project of going by YOB. Why? Well, it took long enough to do . . . for things to slightly change in my mind here and there, so that the numbers were going to be messed up. Making a prospect list always involves weighing a bunch of different factors: floor/ceiling, durability, progress through the system, starter vs. reliever, positional versatility, etc. So it had changed enough for me to just go back to the old-fashioned way of constructing such a list.   One thing

The Hoosecows - The Midwest's Top Prospect?

Just bought my 2014 Twins Daily Offseason Handbook, and I started thinking my baseball thriller The Hoosecows, written with Roy C. Booth, is a prospect to watch in its own right.   If you're a Twins fan, the joy of watching prospects mature is going to be a big part of your 2014 experience. Sano, Buxton, Meyer . . . What could be more exciting than supporting a future superstar before they slip into a big league uniform?   Now, I'd like to offer you a chance to dial into another prospect. The H

Would Signing Kubel Make Sense?

The Minnesota Twins struck out 1430 time last season, the third most strikeouts in the history of the game. On the offensive side of the ball, the team scored the third fewest runs in the American League while the pitching staff allowed the second most runs to be scored. The club also left the third most runners on base of any team in the AL.   There needs to be some changes to the roster and the pitching staff is the biggest priority. Numbers like the ones discussed above make it clear that th

A little Twins Trivia "Who am I"?

In the Twins 53 year history, 27 different Twins players have gotten five or or more hits in a game but only nine players have done this more then once.   Kirby Puckett did it six times and in two of those occurrences he had six hits in a game. Puckett remains the only Twins player to get more then 5 hits in a game.   Joe Mauer and Rod Carew each have had five 5 hit games wearing a Twins uni.   Tony Oliva accomplished the feat four times.   Paul Molitor did it three times.   Denard Span, Justin

Fishing for Holes in the Roster

When a team has lost 90 games in three consecutive seasons, there can be plenty of finger pointing. For the Twins, there are questions to ask about how this current roster was created and what the team can do as they try and move forward.   Where are the holes in this roster? What needs to be done this offseason? Are there internal options to help remedy the situation? All of these questions and more need to be answered before the team heads to Florida for spring training.   Let's take a look at

November Mailbag!

Originally posted at Kevin Slowey was Framed!   Welcome to another Minnesota Twins mailbag. There has been so much juicy Twins news in the past month, I just couldn't resist asking questions to qualified Twins analysts. Unfortunately, with the iOS7 upgrade, none of my emails, texts, tweets or vines actually send, so I'll just have to answer my own questions this time. This should be a nice change of pace.   Would you move Joe Mauer to first base to alleviate any potential concussion issues go

Avoiding rookie renovation mistakes

They say the best way to learn is by making mistakes, but an even better way to learn is by learning from others’ mistakes. That way you get all the knowledge without the bitter tinge of regret. Another way of saying this is, “You don’t have to reinvent the wheel,” which in this context means there are a lot of renovators and designers out there who have likely done a project similar to the one you’re planning on attempting. Don’t feel like you have to make it up as you go along, instead, utiliz
