    This is a good point and if true, offers some hope.

    I'd argue the opposite. Tendon repairs can be done multiple times to the same joint. They can result in a completely healthy joint (as long as the cartilage is intact). It is cartilage damage that is the most serious injury for an athlete. It cannot be repaired, only mitigated. There is no current technology to replace cartilage. This sort of degenerative damage is what leads to knee replacement. It is becoming obvious that this is where Buxton is at, unfortunately.

    Per Dan Hayes answering a commenter in the comments of his game recap at The Athletic that was suggesting Correa be cut loose, "He came into today’s game having reached base in 19 games in a row with an .868 OPS, four homers and 12 RBIs." He does only have 2 hits and 4 walks in his last 5 games, so this late season resurgence has cooled of late. Hopefully we can wrap this thing up in time for Carlos to put his feet up for a week. The documented clutch playoff performer would come in handy.

    A whole lot of razors edge riding in the game thread last night. It takes a certain toughness and courage to undertake that for 162 games, Lol. In his 9 years as a big leaguer, Carlos had 2 years with a low 90's OPS+ (and one of them, this year, isn't over yet), 1 year at essentially league average at 99 OPS+ (which is above average for a SS), and 6 years averaging 136.5 OPS+ (137 last year). That is all-star level for any player and league stalwart for a GG SS. I'm not worried about Carlos going forward. Playing on an injured foot he is playing a ton of games, is absolutely stellar in the field and still maintains his leadership role in spite of the struggles. I'd bet he finishes strong as well.

    Thanks for once again being the voice of reason! How does Correa's contract offer protection from poor performance? I think the salary does go down over time. Is it more than that?

    The Donaldson signing was a good one and the trade even better.

    After watching Fundy get the most of his first chance, I will be less haunted by ghosts of past relievers who for some unknown reason never got that chance. Well at least with the Twins. All of a sudden Winder is dealing, lol!? I'll take it. Nice win from these young and explosive Twins.

    I don't think this front office has the stomach to cut Gallo loose. I'm starting to wonder if they might even have Luplow on the playoff roster, lol.

    Another good win against a tough team, but man the Rangers are on a skid. The team showed some fire. Some tough talk by Wallner in the post game interview with Audra, "if they want some, come get it". Lol, again the kid has got an edge to him, I like it.

    Ok now we have your opinion. Which ever way you go, the way the Twins did, or the way you suggest, you could end up with at bats that don't have the platoon advantage. If you ask me it doesn't really matter either way and would just come down to players. Who is that lefty that is available in the pen? Which batter are you talking out or putting in? I agree with @stringer bell's idea, they could've put in Kepler and just left him there. Problem solved. IMO @Hubie29's complaint is just that a complaint, and not very nuanced.

    Does mediocre get you wins? Does a well paid mediocre vet block young talent from rising? If Polo is healthy he is a big difference maker. If a player like that will accept a utility role, that might just give you a leg up on your competition. If he is injured, try out your young talent. You might just happen upon a rookie hot streak which could also give you an advantage.

    His point is that if Polo is healthy he is a strong asset and if not it opens up the chance to try out depth with high upside. Farmer will most likely be healthy, mediocre and taking up a 26 man spot all season. I'd call that sound reasoning.

    Yes I think Polo is positioning himself as a utility type and would accept a 2 year deal at a lower AAV than 10.5m. His track record the last few years has lowered his leverage. Polo is an asset on many levels for this franchise and it would be wise to keep him around as you usher in the next wave. He would also be more tradable with that kind of deal.

    I agree to some extent but I would keep a keen eye on his performance and ease up if he starts fading. A 137 OPS+ Jeffers come playoffs would be much more valuable in those games than a worn out 115 OPS+ Jeffers. Of course this would require them to do something they haven't done well yet, adjust quickly.

    I'd be happy with a 60/40 split from here on out in Jeffers favor with some time at DH . He should get as many at bats as anyone the rest of the way. Playing Vasquez 40% of the time may diminish the Twins advantage as @chpettit19 says, but I'd make that small sacrifice there rest of the way to keep Jeffers fresh for the duration. They also need to see how Vasquez responds the rest of the way. While I'm excited about Carmago and even Cosetti down in A ball, I don't think they can roll with Carmago as backup next year. Maybe in '25. I see them dealing Vasquez with one year left on his deal after next year or at the deadline. Oh and no to Jeffers at first. Don't mess with success, let him focus on his very important job.

    It's been a long time since the twins lost the season series to Detoilet (apologies) lol. What 2016? Division games against familiar foes can be confounding in any sport. It happens, but one thing a do like about this middling club is they have had some really good showings against good teams too. Anything could happen this year, especially if 3 or 4 of their starters are healthy and dealing at the right time.

    I don't think Lee will be up this year. Maybe a cup of coffee. I'd also bet he starts next year at AAA and comes up based on service time manipulation. That's the way the system is set up.

    That may be what you want, but Miami specifically targeted Arraez for obvious reasons. This is an Arraez for Lopez like it or lump it situation. Good on the front office for digging in their heels and getting the 2 prospects.

    Oh I get it. No I don't think anyone is questioning AK's bat. He was really rolling, showing how well he could make adjustments, then his body let him down again. The silver lining is his wrist gets a little in-season respite.
