  1. Sometimes you just have to tip the cap to the other guy as well. The A's starter did a great job overall.
  2. ... Ryan Jeffers is not good at throwing out runners. He ranks fifth last in this category among catchers in 2022. Also, who cares? Jeffers has had four bases stolen on his watch in 2022, and has thrown out one runner, for a CS% of 20%. Yadier Molina is at 29%. I don't disagree with this, but also... bases are generally stolen off the pitcher or pitch selection. Even Yadi or Pudge in their prime had a difficult time throwing out a runner if the pitcher had a slow/lengthy delivery. It just puts the catcher behind the power curve.
  3. Lord Dark Helmet: What the heck am I looking at? When does THIS happen in the move? Col. Sandurz: NOW. You're looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now is happening now. Lord Dark Helmet: Go back to then! Col. Sandurz: What? Lord Dark Helmet: THEN! Col. Sandurz: I can't! Lord Dark Helmet: Why not? Col. Sandurz: We passed it! Lord Dark Helmet: When? Col. Sandurz: Just now! Lord Dark Helmet: When will then be now? Col. Sandurz: SOON!
  4. - The highly-anticipated matchup of brothers Louie and Gus Varland will take place in game one I'm really interested to see this game tonight. Should be fun to watch... maybe not so much for Ma' and Pa' Varland, but the rest of us may enjoy it . Then again, I often tell my children to go out into the back yard and fight to see who is our favorite... ?, so who knows.
  5. Interesting thought, but I can't help but wonder if many teams may be a little shy about spending a high pick on him given how last year played out. I'd bet that many if not most teams are interested, just to what degree remains to be seen. Just to be clear, I think he is a good pitcher, just not sure how good at the pro level he will be ?‍♂️.
  6. We shall see about CES's bat as he progresses up the levels, but he has absolutely raked right out of the gates as a college bat. A promising sign thus far .
  7. As of right now, I agree this seem to be the most plausible scenario in the short term.
  8. Unfortunately I had just gotten back from Iraq and was starting a new job outside of the military at that time and clearly I missed that story ?. Someone willing to fill me in ?
  9. Louie Varland with some nasty movement on a circle-change. He'll be a starter if he can develop it into a consistent third pitch. 2 - 0 Changeups are why I have trust issues... ?
  10. Ouch,,, try to keep the gloves up. No need to get snarky on the response.
  11. I hate the idea of drafting Dylan Lesko (we can argue about it in the comments) Amen brother! Ok, all joking aside I don't think he would be a great choice at #8 for the Twins anyway. There is a very realistic chance my son's team will face Lesko's team in the second round of the GA State Playoffs next week (AAAAAA Bracket), although there is rumor that Lesko was shut down as a precaution with an unknown (minor?) injury last week. Giving his draft stock, he may be out for the remainder of season with the draft upcoming. Also we may see him stick with his Vandy commit if he isn't drafted high enough.
  12. I think that it doesn't really matter in the end. All that MVP vote would do, is prove/validate to the rest of the baseball world what we Twins fans (and anyone who really knows baseball) already know... Buck is one of the most physically gifted baseball players on the planet.
  13. You could say that about any starter who has a bad game ?‍♂️. Sands has the prospect pedigree and body of work from the last couple of years to indicate that he should be totally fine going forward. I was also watching the game on MiLB (at least the start... oi vey!) and while Sands looked like he was just "off" that night, I saw nothing to indicate that there was a problem going forward. So we shall see I guess... Unfortunately I have to save the Magic 8 Ball mojo for my son's HS team (the first round of the playoffs start next week and this Friday's conference game will determine the conference champion).
  14. I believe I understand your angst, but this statement rings of hyperbole.
  15. Finally broke down and ordered MiLB. When I saw that Povich was starting tonight, I thought to myself, "Self... (because that's what I call myself in my inner monologue, self...) Sweet, you get the chance to watch him pitch". Nope... games not televised tonight. Now I feel sad... ?
  16. I was going to be lazy and say just go fishing with dynamite... that would answer the question.
  17. 100% concur. Thank you Nick for all you guys do. It is appreciated far more than I can ever express here.
