    Great debut for Lewis, great to see HRs from both Bux and Miranda and hat's off to Winder for a well-pitched game. What more can be said about those four guys? Amazing! Unfortunately this team isn't scoring enough. Both runs last night were scored on solo homers, which means that the Twins had 6 additional hits + 4 walks where they couldn't push anything across home plate. All 10 baserunners were stranded out there, not one hit with a runner on base to bring someone in. The weather is warming up and the bats are too. There aren't going to be many more days where you can win games 2-1. This team needs to figure out how to put up crooked numbers. Lost in all the fun was the fact that Pagan nearly blew this game. Loaded the bases with walks and got to a 3-2 count on the last batter before striking him out. We were 1 pitch away from having a very different discussion this morning as we'd be talking about the team's 3rd straight loss. This team needs a closer.

    Correa wasn't hit by a pitch. He swung at the ball and hit it off his knuckles, the ball rolled into play. No HBP - it was a 1-3 groundout. It was a terrible swing. If he'd have kept the bat on his shoulder and just stood there, he wouldn't have been hit. He did it to himself.

    Nope, no timetable yet. If I had to guess I don't think we'll see him until the 4th of July at the earliest.

    Maybe he's a Denard Span or Jacque Jones type of hitter? Hit 12-18 homers per year, hit .286, play solid defense in the outfield and provide a spark at the top of the lineup? Both of those guys were huge parts of successful Twins teams, valuable players and very successful major leaguers.

    Yeesh - a really terrible 2nd half of that series against Baltimore. What started as a fun road trip now has the Twins sick and broken. Bad starting pitching, bad bullpen, hitters grounding into double-plays left and right, and giving away winnable games. With the way Baltimore was playing you have to take 3-of-4 there. Just have to. I think we have to get used to the idea that Correa's gone until July, it's gonna be a helluva gauntlet to run while he's out. The competition is getting much tougher and someone besides Buxton is going to have to step it up on offense. Kepler's really starting to do that, I think it's time Polanco chips in, he's carried this team for weeks in the past when he gets hot. Sure hope this is the beginning of the Royce Lewis era because otherwise the next couple weeks might not be too fun. PS - Correa, what in the heck was he doing swinging at that ball? Took two terrible swings on the first two pitches low, and then swing at this pitch right at his face? He sure wasn't helping himself on that AB.

    I don't blame Rocco for thinking he could get away with it again, especially since Bundy overall has been pretty good this year. But I think after last night, that experiment is over and moving forward nobody's going to find any more "moral victories" resulting from Bundy getting shelled in the first couple innings.

    Tell that to the Cincinnati Reds, who are 3-21. They might be wondering about where those 50 wins are going to come from right about now. Speaking of sad, non-Twins related stuff: Nelson Cruz is hitting .143 so far this year with 2 HRs. He's 2 for his last 38 and hasn't had a multiple-hit game in almost a month. This has to be his last year, right?

    There was a waterfall of key plays and moments in this game - seemed like they just kept happening! Seeing-eye bloop hits from Baltimore and misplays by the Twins in the field were taking place every inning. However, the back-breaking moment in my opinion was when Celestino hits a line drive missile that nails Sanchez for the final out of the inning. That hit was headed to right field to make the game 6-5 with Arraez and Correa coming up to bat. Instead it stays 6-4 and the inning is over. Rocco was trying to steal one more inning from Bundy there - it's classic Rocco, that's what he does, and frankly I can live with it. Bundy's pitched pretty well this year aside from a couple bad innings, Rocco's thinking if this guy can just get 3 more outs we might have a chance. PS - how about that catch from Gordon? That was maybe the best OF catch we've seen all year on this team. Also nice to see Gordon deliver a key hit in that rally as well. He's turning into a nice utility piece for this team.

    I think Paddack and Ryan are going to continue and emerge as a true 1-2 punch. I see Gray as an effective, yet injury-prone arm that might contribute somewhat but we probably shouldn't count on too much. Ober's injury really knocked him down on my list as well, he was looking solid prior but I think he may have already reached his ceiling in terms of what he can give the Twins. I see Winder as a wildcard, certainly could play a big role this year if either of the two aforementioned get injured, or....when Bundy and Archer hit the wall, which I anticipate will be around mid-June. In fact I think that it's possible that one of those two might not even be with the team come July 15.

    He does look good, agree with what you're saying. Not sure if he's "home grown" though, he came to the Twins organization in the Eduardo Escobar trade back in 2018. Arizona drafted him. That said he's spent as much time in the Twins org as he did in the AZ org by now, so by all means I think the Twins can take credit for a lot of his development.

    Buxton being a late scratch is concerning. Can't help but get that creeping feeling any time he's removed for an injury. Garlick, wow. He's got 4 hits this year and 3 of them are HRs. He's making it awfully tough to send him down when he plays like this against lefties. Would be very nice to win this series in Tampa.....

    Amazing how the feel of a season can change when a few lucky bounces go your way. Those amazing finishes against the White Sox and Tigers seem to have taken some of the pressure off this team. Last year, the Twins were on the other side of tons of games like that. Right now this team seems to be having fun and there are lots of guys contributing. Polanco and Correa should start to heat up soon and then we'll really be clicking. Can't say anything more about Joe Ryan that hasn't already been said. Berrios who?!?!

    Oh it's fun, don't get me wrong! In fact I think the Baseball Gods are evening things out. Wasn't it around this time last year when Luis Arraez made that throw in Oakland? Good to see both Kepler and Sano play a major part in winning this game. While Sano's base hit could have been caught by a more adept fielder, it was a frozen rope and that would go for a double against many teams. He made solid contact with the team down in the 9th, he did a nice job in the batter's box in a big situation.

    After watching the play again, I kinda disagree. I think Larnach should have scored easily. If you watch the replay, he's still heading back towards 2nd base when the ball is rolling around near the wall. Not to mention Grossman's arm is like a wet noodle. The Twins baserunning as a whole on that play was so awful that it confused the Tigers to the point of them throwing the ball away.

    I think all wins have come with Buxton on the field. As Byron goes, so go the Twins.

    Turned on the game halfway through only to watch Correa, Polanco and Kepler - the top of the order - all strike out in a 1-2-3 inning. Nobody even made contact, I think Polanco foul tipped one into the catcher's mitt. Otherwise that was it, inning over. These games we're watching aren't pitcher's duels. These are middle of the rotation pitchers throwing 93 MPH right down the middle of the plate and nobody's squaring anything up. The kid in KC the other day had a 10.45 ERA coming into the game and he shut the Twins down. The most exciting thing that happened was when Sano fouled one straight back and Bremer said "ooooooh, he was right on that one". Really? Sano's a 30 HR+ per year guy, and we're supposed to inch forward in our seats because he fouls off a ball from a soft-tossing rookie? Fans deserve way better than what they're getting this year. Hitters are way, way behind. Thing is, even when MLB gets a full spring training, hitters are still behind for the first few weeks of the season. We may be in for another month of this, and if that's true a lot of fans are going to walk away.

    I mean....we'll take it. Twins need every win they can get this year, by hook or by crook. The Sox completely gave it away, and the Twins almost gave it back. Two teams that are struggling horribly offensively right now and are pressing on defense. If the Sox are hitting, Anderson just puts that ball in his pocket and right now we'd be tied 1-1 in the 35th inning. Pagan got it done, but good closers go 1-2-3 and we go home without the drama. That kind of effort isn't really going to get it done most of the time. Twins can't score at all this year, Royals and Sox can't score either, is scoring wayyyy down in baseball right now? Or is this just happening to AL Central teams that play outdoors?

    They will turn it around - the question is how long will it take? Took them until July last year, and by then the pitching had cratered and there was a new problem to fix. Season was over before it even started. Unfortunately, even if Buxton, Correa, Polanco and Urshela get hot, the Twins still have the Larnach-Kepler-Sano-Jeffers problem. The Twins need at least 3 of that group to start firing on all cylinders to have a chance, even if a guy like Gordon emerges as a serviceable player. It's a marathon not a sprint, it doesn't have to all come together at once. But we have to expect to see some progress, somewhere, from someone, very soon.

    I've always liked Dick Bremer and think overall he's a good fit. Agree that he was best paired with Blyleven. Morneau is solid, but he's a bit of a "golly gee whiz" type and so is Bremer so it's a bit much sometimes. I think most of the criticism of Bremer comes when the team is not playing well. Fans are frustrated and he's the voice of the team. Sometimes we wish he'd say "GET IT TOGETHER OUT THERE!" but he's not that type.

    "If"? I think we're already there. Rocco was DH'ing Ryan Jeffers last night and had him batting 8th. Just read that sentence again to get a feel for how bleak things are right now. So far we've had all the ingredients for a 2021 repeat: ice cold hitting and a sprinkling of bullpen meltdowns that cost the Twins winnable games. Decent starting pitching that won't last long. And by the time the Twins' hitters catch up, all the magic fairy dust will have come off guys like Bundy and Archer. It's 2021 all over again. The only hope this team has rests in the hands of Buxton, who might single-handedly help them to 80 wins if he plays every game the rest of the season. And that's just not going to happen. And the dude should be on the IL if he's not going to play so we can get a look at some other guys ASAP. There is just something about the aura of this team that feels off. Watching them, they all just look like they're stuck and nobody's clicking at the same time. Every small spark is immediately snuffed out and almost every key decision turns out to be wrong. Everything just feels out of tune.

    That's a great point about the 3 minutes of uninterrupted ads. Soccer players (EPL, La Liga, etc) have worn ads for a long time, but they don't have any stoppages of play. No commercials at all for 90 minutes of non-stop action. In theory, baseball shouldn't need this. But then again, it's a free money cash grab so it's impossible to expect them to turn it down.

    Unforgiveable loss. Should have scored way more runs, the Twins ran themselves out of at least 2 runs early in the game, and were also unlucky hitting everything into the wind. Overall this was a team loss - the type of loss that bad teams give away. A good team wins that game 7-4, should have never even been that close. Twins have now had both Sano and Sanchez called out at home with less than 2 outs this year. Maybe the 3rd base coach should stop sending our big men home? I don't mind being aggressive, but maybe pick your spots. Bad move taking out Gordon for Garlick. I think I saw Gordon on the bench when that move was made and he was looking rather disgusted about that. Guy hits a triple and gets pulled the next inning? It was Amir Garret on the mound, not Randy Johnson. Duffey's been below average for a while now. I think the guy's just cooked. I don't blame Rocco for going to him, the only way you find out guys are bad is to play them. Both Duffey and Jax are very hittable and are just bullpen fodder at this point. Overall just a terrible loss to open the series, Twins find themselves against the wall already in KC.

    You can't sit a guy and expect him to get hot. You don't get both.
