  1. I still don't understand why Rocco had Arraez at 3B and Blankenhorn at 2B in that 13-12 disaster game when I think Arraez is better at 2B and Blankenhorn is better at 3B. Both made errors in that inning at their lesser position. Aaargh.
  2. If I was associated with the Minnesota Twins right now, I'd be afraid to walk down a flight of stairs.
  3. i think the visiting dugout in Oakland is lined with green kryptonite.
  4. I thought Thorpe pitched better than his stat line indicates. Now if he can tick up the fastball speed to separate his pitches he will probably be even more successful.
  5. And, Carlos Rodon was available as a free agent after the White Sox non-tendered him. Congratulations to him after a series of arm woes.
  6. The ballpark is tough place for the Twins these days.
  7. From article: "The Minnesota Twins announced this morning that shortstop Andrelton Simmons has been played on the COVID-IL." The dude's been played.
  8. Not having to warm up relievers saves their arms. The 3 out minimum rule is a factor as mentioned by arby58. Starting an inning with a pitcher who has already met the minimum batter rule means he can be pulled after the 1st or 2nd batter if the manager chooses for either performance reasons or for a critical matchup.
  9. Kepler's K in the 10th . . . arggghhh.
  10. Nelson Cruz: Great pitch recognition plus the ability to put the bat on the ball with authority makes Nellie one of the most feared hitters in baseball . . . still.
  11. The Berrios/Burnes matchup on Saturday night might have been the pitching duel of the year. Haven't seen 2 starters go toe-to-toe with no-hitters through 6 like that in a long time (there probably are a few but I haven't seen them). It made watching every pitch really fun. Great game.
  12. the Duke of Albuquerque will once again slay the mighty fire-breathing mound dragons.
  13. Max Kepler you sandbagger you. Got us all freaked out in spring training then matches ST output in the 1st game. Now let's get back to catching the ball, shall we?
  14. Garlick set the Cal Poly Pomona single-season homerun record with 17 jacks in 2015, was drafted by the Dodgers, then batted .349 across 2 Single-A leagues that same year. In 2016 he was named to the California League Mid-Season All-Star team before being promoted to AA. In 2017 he was named to the Texas League Mid-Season All-Star Team but then injured his hand. Garlick debuted with the Dodgers in May, 2019. At age 29 he's not really a prospect anymore, but Kyle Garlick is not just LF meat. If he can do some mashing on left-handed pitching and keep his defensive routes and throws on track he should be able to help the Twins.
  15. unfortunately, a foreign substance on the ball for Max Kepler would be the bat.
  16. We used to go to Metropolitan stadium when the Angels were in town just to get behind home plate when Nolan Ryan was pumping fastballs. The sound of the ball hitting the catcher's mitt was like no other pitcher. The ball would go "zip", "pop", and dust would fly out of the catcher's mitt. Awesome.
  17. Boom Stick has to be the most appropriate nickname . . . evah.
