I think Bruce Meyer the new director of the Player's Union has and will be the lead negotiator so not much change there really. I know the owners want a salary cap but I don't think they are married to the idea enough to prevent or seriously delay the 2027 baseball season.
I think there will be a new bargaining agreement in place without a lockout. I think (and hope) the owners learned from the last stoppage of play the damage it does to the sport (revenue).
I think the Caratini signing gives the Twins options; but considering that Jeffers is a Boras client I pretty much expect Jeffers to get traded at the trade deadline this year.
And in other news, Jose Miranda hit a double and homer in his spring debut for the Padres, just about matching his whole output last year for the Twins. Here's to you Jose.
Not good. I'm not sure what window of opportunity good baseball vision saw for this team in 2026 with the current roster. I thought for sure the Twins were going to trade Pablo in January and then Joe Ryan in March. Does it really matter if you finish 3rd, 4th or 5th in our division?
And . . . he pitched an inning at Charlotte last year with an ERA of 0.00.
And in other news . . . I went to look at getting a new Mercedes today. After realizing that driving it would probably require a 3 week training course to operate the thing I said forget it. I think a car company that offered a model with just power steering and power brakes to start might be on to something.
I think we've found a distinguishing factor between Derek Falvey and Jeremy Zoll as General Manager:
Falvey: "Lefties? Lefties? We don't need no stinkin' lefties."
Zoll: "Lefties, lefties, I like lefties."
