    I think his actual extension took place before the season began, it was just announced (edit: not announced, "reported" per Chief) really late. You know, like during a losing streak.

    If Rocco had never managed before (assuming the Twins had a different manager the last 7 years), would he be a possible candidate for the manager position today? Doesn't that put a conundrum bun in your oven.

    Agreed, though firing Rocco now seems a little confusing. Is he being fired for this year's performance? Is this just the delayed firing from last year's collapse (not to mention the collapse of '22)? I can't think of one experienced manager who would want the job considering the current front office and projected payroll reductions. Seems to me that keeping Rocco (who is already contracted to get paid) would have been a better fit for the current "plans" unless you think winning is any part of ownership's goal here.

    The right time to fire Rocco was the day after the season ended last year. But instead they kept him and the inability to right the ship after last seasons collapse has hung on ever since.

    Outside of a few baserunning snafus, Austin Martin has played well since the roster outflux of 2025. I'm hard pressed to think of any Twins hitter in the aggregate who has had better plate appearances than Martin and defensively he's looked much better in left field, even making some really good plays out there. Unless he has an atrocious spring training or is injured I can see him as the starting left fielder next year.

    That swing by Pereda where he hit the double the opposite way on an outside curveball is the type of swing the Twins have been missing pretty much all year.

    Good article, I remember reading it back then and having sat behind home plate watching Nolan Ryan pitch, the sound and amount of dust coming from the catcher's mitt was like no other pitcher ever. He was probably throwing 105 fastballs.

    Nice box score so far, Each team has used 2 relievers for 1 inning each. Theirs have all zeros. Ours have given up 10 hits and 9 runs.
