    That makes 2 of us. I don't think Detroit trades Skubal, The team would be in an uproar. Tiger fans would crucify GM Greenberg. Skubal is such a difference maker. He can beat you any day he pitches. Skubal stays in Detroit. As for the Twins, I think any talk about competing is fruitless. I think ownership will continue to pare payroll, first by trading Ryan this winter and then Lopez during the spring when some hopeful contender loses 2 starters to injury and will cough up for Lopez. But then again, I know nothing.

    On another note as it pertains to positions in MLB: vice president of amateur forecasting and player evaluation initiatives. Really? It's another organization but, what the heck is that? It's starting to get weird fellas (and gals).

    I was thinking maybe this guy would work. He'd knock down line drives about as often as Julien, and swing at strikes about the same. Lack of speed on the bases might be a problem, but that has never been a hinderance for the Twins, and the price would be just about right,

    I think his actual extension took place before the season began, it was just announced (edit: not announced, "reported" per Chief) really late. You know, like during a losing streak.

    If Rocco had never managed before (assuming the Twins had a different manager the last 7 years), would he be a possible candidate for the manager position today? Doesn't that put a conundrum bun in your oven.

    Agreed, though firing Rocco now seems a little confusing. Is he being fired for this year's performance? Is this just the delayed firing from last year's collapse (not to mention the collapse of '22)? I can't think of one experienced manager who would want the job considering the current front office and projected payroll reductions. Seems to me that keeping Rocco (who is already contracted to get paid) would have been a better fit for the current "plans" unless you think winning is any part of ownership's goal here.

    The right time to fire Rocco was the day after the season ended last year. But instead they kept him and the inability to right the ship after last seasons collapse has hung on ever since.
