  1. Maybe he should kneel when he runs the bases. He looks way faster on his knees than he does on his feet.
  2. Is that an option? I vote for that as well. Four of Thorpe's last six starts he hasn't allowed an earned run. I think I'm already at the point of bumping both Thorpe and Graterol ahead of Gonsalves on my happy thoughts prospect list.
  3. Yeah, but Liriano only had .2 WAR for that half season with the Sox, which was his walk year.
  4. Yeah, Molitor did the same with Breslow last year until the front office took him away from Molitor. I'd like to see Belisle taken away from Molitor as well. Send Rogers down and DL Pressly to give him some rest. I don't know what they can do with Reed. Molitor was forced to go to Hildenberger, Busenitz and Rogers last year and they thrived. Do it again, force his hand. Also, Rodney has quietly become one of the more reliable relievers, why is he only 6th on the team in relief appearances? Good lord, what year is it? He doesn't only have to come in when the team is leading in the 9th.
  5. Would it kill Molitor to show some emotion? He displays the same stereotypical Minnesota stoic and emotionless demeanor that Joe Mauer gets ragged about. If you're going to coach or manage, give me some outward emotion, give me some passion. You're working with a bunch of young non-Minnesotans many of whom speak English as a second language; wearing your emotions on your sleeve should be a requirement in this case. Nobody outside of the upper midwest understands that when he stands on the top step of the dugout with a blank look on is face after the ump made a terrible call, that maybe he actually is upset.
  6. Kepler has hurt his trade value at this point I'd think but teams always covet "MLB ready" talent more than the prognosticators do. I'd have no problem moving "MLB ready" guys like Gonsalves or Gordon either.
  7. If they can't then they'll have to go back to the drawing board because I'm tired of this participation trophy "awe shucks, just happy to be here" baloney we've put up with for nearly 30 years.
  8. That's been one of my biggest issues with the Twins though. They've always seemed to make decisions with an eye toward getting to the playoffs, not actually winning it all. Cleveland's spotty play doesn't really impact the Twins ability to win the WS. I'm not really a 'chip, chair and a chance' guy.
  9. I guess you got me there. I don't like this team though, honestly it might almost entirely be about the energy of the manager and the players. I think they're close, I think they can get over the hump, just not this year. Kiriloff is really the only prospect I wouldn't trade, it would take one hell of a return for me to move Lewis or Gaterol, but I'd do it. Just not for rentals, I think this year's a lost cause even if they get to that 85 wins or whatnot they'd need to be a token playoff team.
  10. Yeah, typically day games. The Twins haven't won a day game since Hrbek retired. No need to check, I'm quite confident I'm right on this one.
  11. I guess my take on the original thread proposition is sell then. No rentals for me. This team looks too dysfunctional right now. Even if there was a repeat of last year where the team undeservedly made the playoffs just because everyone else stunk, I'm not interested in making trades to try to make another silly one game play-in appearance. My biggest worry is the team is going to be perpetually average, and it appears in this age of baseball it's harder for a midmarket team to get to the elite level from that position. I'd trade for longer term assets though.
  12. But if we'd want Familia why not just go after him as a free agent next year? Herrera too for that matter.
  13. Is there any reason to believe Porcello intentionally beaned Escobar? Did Gibson plunk someone first? I'm not watching.
  14. Great, stuff. Yeah, Molitor needs to stop abusing Pressly and Reed. Magill seems like a fine candidate to ease their burden.
  15. I didn't think much of Lynn due to his lack of offspeed and breaking stuff. So his last five starts or so have been a nice surprise.
  16. I think Dale could go 10 innings if his perfect game is in the line.
  17. Here I'm trying to decide who would be a better RF Geddy Lee or Eddie Money.
  18. Had the Twins hired Lovullo and had he put up the same kind of sketchy track record there'd be much less resistance to replace him. It looks like the team is starting to do it now, but this is the biggest reason why they should usually be looking to hire people from outside; people without built up organizational equity and emotional attachment. These guys should be earning that equity with their current role, not with what they did for the organization in past roles.
  19. I know most of us aren't accustomed to it after seeing three decades of Kelly/Gardenhire, but a four year stint as manager is a pretty common run as far as most of the league is concerned. I'll bet there's much less consternation with these kinds of discussions regarding Jeff Bannister and the Rangers.
  20. ****Moderator Note**** Things are starting to get too personal here. There are too many veiled and not so veiled accusations and there is quite a bit of mis-characterization or at least presumption of other posters intentions. Please dial it back.
  21. I think you've just grown accustomed to the home team's prospects.
  22. Perhaps it's Minnesota paranoia about no one wanting to be here, but Murphy never looked to thrilled when he was up with the Twins. I probably read too much into it, but to me he seemed to gave off a "I was a Yankee and now I have to be a Twin?" vibe.
  23. Rogers keeps adjusting his belt; I think he's right to worry about his pants falling down too. I swear, somehow he looks thinner after every appearance.
  24. Agreed. Still, I'd guess Busenitz would trade places with him.
