  1. Time to update those predictions. Based on this weekend it's pretty clear: MIN 17-0, DET 11-6, CHI 4-12, GB 0-17.
  2. If the veterans like Correa have been become disgruntled, I doubt it's because of Baldelli, it's more likely because of ownership and what was viewed as broken promises to improve the team. Not that that's what's happening.
  3. I agree with all of it, though I'm curious to see if your last sentence holds true. I'm really curious to see if O'Connell can or will transition to a run heavy approach. Though, if Darnold pulls off a Baker Mayfield resurrection, I'm more than happy to never find out.
  4. They should be low for sure. It's just that I don't see any scary teams outside of San Francisco* and Detroit. The Giants are probably the only really crappy team, but none of the rest look like they'll be fighting for a playoff bye week. But I guess you never know. I guess I should do the NL North prediction since that's what this thread is about. I'll say DET 13-4, MIN 10-7 CHI 10-7 GB 8-9, mostly because I'll guess Love is out at least four weeks and if so, I think they start off 0-4. I've seen Malik Willis play, and it's not good. *Off topic, but SF is so dang old and their star players have so much injury history, they seem like one of those 'dynasty' teams that implodes instead of fading out. If they lose a couple of those stars to injury, I could see every team in their division having between 8-11 wins and SF missing out on the playoffs completely. I know I'm on an island with at least the last part of that take.
  5. Looking at the schedule, the experts seem to disagree with me on how many good teams the Vikings actually play. It looks like a couple of A listers but mostly a lot of mediocre teams. I think the defense is going to be really tough, not because they have 11 studs, but because they brought in a ton of pass rushers they'll be able to keep fresh and rotate in and out like the Jets and Eagles do. With Flores' track record, if this team doesn't lead the league in sacks, I bet they'll be close. Because of that, I don't think they'll really be out of any games. That said, I'm most definitely not a homer (huuuuuuuuuge fan though) but ugh, I think this team wins 10 games, maybe 11. I can't believe I just typed that. Not that I think they'll be an actual contender, but they could be similar to the 2017 and 2022 teams who's record wasn't an indicator of their talent.
  6. ************Moderator Note************** Criticize Baldelli (without name calling of course) but stop with the strawmen crap trying to paint other posters as 'apologists' or 'protectors'. Stick to the topic.
  7. Yeah, Zimmer's reluctance to spend big on a QB makes no sense. If I was a reporter, I'd ask him, "If your special ability is to elevate a defense, shouldn't you spend your free agent money on the position you DON'T have the skills to improve?"
  8. *******************Moderator Note********************* Ok, nice work everyone. Sometimes things suck, so I guess we should all act like children about it. I'll be locking the game thread. It might be a first. Anyone who feels like respecting each other like adults can participate again tomorrow.
  9. **************Moderator Note****************** Awful loss, everyone's pissed off, but stop demeaning and trashing other posters. And blame who you want in the organization but do it without the name calling.
  10. I don't care about losing Hall. I care what the desire to roster Rypien suggests. That being that they'll desperately chase mediocrity again at the expense of putting themselves in a better position next year. If Darnold gets injured or stinks, just accept your fate and take the silver lining of a top five pick.
  11. It's pretty much the whole reason they shortened it from 15 games to 10. Makes the decision that much easier.
  12. That's what players used to do. But they also used have an OPS .200 points under their norm while doing it. Playing injured is good for the pride but I think it's usually bad for the team.
  13. Well I laughed at your comment before even reading it. Which is pretty much my default reaction when reading something unflattering about Jerry Jones.
  14. I'd stopped reading before that. Yeah, another dumb comment. If he had any thoughts of being some beacon of enlightenment in a league who's stances on social issues are about 50 years out of date, he failed miserably.
  15. Reading the article, yeah, he's mostly right. On the other hand, he had no business making those broad generalizations about the players on his team. Zero chance all of them are homophobes yet all of them get thrown under the bus. Had he left the players out of it and only criticized Goodell, Jones and anyone else running the show it would have come off as more genuine.
  16. Yeah, I like this game. His last hit was August 26th, the one before that was August 20th. Those are his only two hits since August 15th. Now, one could argue that in 8 of those games he's had one or fewer ABs. However, then I'd counter that only pleading insanity could find anyone not culpable for actually using him as a pinch hitter.
  17. Helman it is. Looks like the lefty aversion was too powerful to beat out the rookie aversion.
  18. I bet they don't even issue him a batting helmet. They probably dig out an old Chris Hermann jersey and say, "Close enough".
  19. A deal with the devil certainly sounds like a plausible explanation for TB's prior run of regular season success. Looks like the bill is now coming due however.
  20. Hoping that Buck is a 10 pointer, not a hip pointer.
  21. We wouldn't be having this discussion if Tampa was still going by their original name. They can take the Devil out of their name, but the dark lord's presence is still lurking.
  22. The last couple of years the offense picked up steam when the young guys started carrying the majority of the load. Hopefully the last few games with Lewis, Lee, Wallner, Larnach and Miranda coming through is an omen of things to come.
  23. I didn't like the Santana signing as it stunk of cheap desperation, but regardless of whether they were smart or got lucky, he was a fine signing. But if I give them Santana, then they also have to eat crow on Margot, Desclafani, Topa, Okert, Jackson, Staumont and Richards. One out of seven in player acquisitions this year isn't very good. Not looking to fire anyone, but again, that's why I say Falvey, the architect, shouldn't have his career tied to Levine the GM.
  24. Probably four games at least, but also probably not until 2025. His court date isn't until November. It would be great if he'd get suspended late this season, but the NFL may drag their feet and he can appeal (presuming he loses). Have to think that using an early 2025 pick on a WR is going to be a big discussion next year.
