  1. I've blinked like at least a dozen times during this game.
  2. Yeah, the guy with the .061 ERA and 70+ innings the last 3 seasons? Duran's at 52 innings. How many does he throw if he's only pitching the 9th with a lead? If he's the teams second best reliever why is he 4th in innings on this team? Behind Alcala even who keeps getting demoted. It's inefficient. Trade him and Lee or another young player and level up the rotation.
  3. This is 2024, you can't just save one relief pitcher for one specific occasion. Like it or not, starters go fewer innings and hitters are more specialized. You have to mix and match. And Jax is better than Duran. So if you have to give Duran the elite spots to pitch in, that means you're benching the better guy to do it.
  4. My god, Dallas should be beating this terrible Giants team by three scores. This is absolutely fantastic.
  5. If Duran can ONLY pitch in the 9th inning with a lead, than that's an extremely inefficient use of your bullpen. You're basically leaving yourself short handed in half of the games. Sorry for the NFL comparison, but it's like the Vikings letting their best defensive player leave (Danielle Hunter) because he was bad in pass coverage. They were able replace him with multiple players who were more versatile, and they're way better for it.
  6. Sorry, but every argument seems to stem from MLB having to be a slave to tradition while the NFL gets to embrace innovation. Tradition is going to kill MLB because there aren't enough people who care about such things anymore, and fewer and fewer every year. There's never been an industry that survived that didn't embrace new ideas, even if some of them didn't pan out.
  7. Alright a guy on 2B and 1 out. It's like the Twins in every extra inning game. They're experienced in this situation!
  8. Called it. Confirmed as unlikely.
  9. You know what would be the most unlikely thing to happen this year? Austin Marin hits a walk off homer. That's not a call, it's an observation.
  10. You can, but you'd be going about 75 miles too far, I'm the ND poster in Fargo.
  11. All part of the plan. Jeffers gave him a wink.
  12. I thought guys who don't wear shoes were banned from the game. Or was it just the one guy? I'm a few beers in.
  13. Why is the NFL continually expanding the playoffs not the same as the MLB? I don't track how it matters how many teams they play in the regular season when your gist is about letting the lesser talent into the post season. The NCAA screamed bloody murder about doing so for the last 40 years (and they were totally wrong).
  14. I trade Duran this offseason. He's not the best reliever; he shouldn't be in all of the biggest situations. But he's still really good and other teams would pay handsomely for him.
  15. You just said you tuned out MLB to watch NFL. Why are you watching that one if it's watered down?
  16. Yeah, I'm guessing Andrade is safe (though I'm far from impressed). I personally wouldn't put Rosario on the 40-man though.
  17. I don't even want to send my non-top pitching prospects. The non-top prospects are currently what's making up the best part of the MLB bullpen and good parts of the rotation. Sorry for the harshness, but save their innings for the spring; send in the cannon fodder.
  18. I'm not sure about the NHL, but if MLB wants to survive, they need to do everything they can to emulate the NBA and NFL. Old school fans may not like it, but once enough of the old school fans are gone, there aren't currently enough 'new school' fans to keep the game afloat. And that's 100% on the owners who most want to maximize short term profits.
  19. Wait, does that mean the Twins are getting off the mat, or that the Undertaker is coming to put them away?
  20. *****Moderator Note***** Any more personal attacks are going to result in removal from the thread and posting bans. If you're not sure if what you're about to type will qualify, don't post it.
  21. They're both young, but neither are good outside of their records. Between the two of them, they have three good offensive players under the age of 30, and one of them is a platoon left hander.
  22. With or without Love, if the Vikings play like they did against SF and Houston, they'll kill the Packers, and quite possibly Jordan Love. But we're all Vikings fans, so we all know if there's one game they'll relapse, it would be this one.
  23. ****Moderator Note**** I am as frustrated with this season as anyone, but personal attacks, generalizations about other posters and finger pointing is exponentially more frustrating. We have a healthy number of posters who absolutely refuse to write anything other than blatant flaming, trolling, thread jacking and dwelling on one single pet topic. Being critical is completely different than being intentionally negative solely to try to spread your misery. This is Twins baseball. Every one of us has gone through crap seasons before yet a ton of people are acting like this is some new plague on society. It's baseball, not life altering world events, cool it with the attacks on each other. This is going to stop or there's going to be a hell of a lot of posting privileges temporarily paused.
