  1. Well I won't for sure, I can only listen on the radio.
  2. Margot trying to make him feel better about it.
  3. Alas, he already said the siren call of attending baseball games every single day in a big city would be too much. We may have seen the last of him.
  4. We sure that wasn't just a 2023 thing? This was 2022:
  5. If you run out of toilet paper, use your wife's loofa.
  6. Obviously. Not going to pay for Rich Hill's minor league salary.
  7. He was traded to the Red Sox for Rich Hill.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/08/red-sox-rich-hill-nearing-agreement-on-minor-league-deal.html Hill's staying home in Boston it sounds like. We got anyone like that around here? Did Jack Morris came back home or did he stay in Detroit? Dick Stigman maybe? Glen Perkins is probably the best bet. Looks like he's three years younger than Hill too.
  9. Maybe if it's a day game, at 8 PM you call it bed time.
  10. And if not Keirsey, than you try Michael Helman. Then Will Holland. As far as players go, I chose quality over quantity, but quality wasn't an option here, so they should have gone with the guys with options to cycle through and keep the roster flexible.
  11. Man, looks like a rough hot weekend in Dallas. I won't be surprised if no starters go past the fifth in this series.
  12. What was the fact I didn't provide? That he's rusty? You're right, that was a bold assumption on my part. Guys who grunt when they put on their socks are probably good to run out to the mound to face MLB hitters a year removed from the game.
  13. Knock on wood. If he's only a back end starter at best, they sure as heck at least give it a shot.
  14. I agreed earlier that Lewis playing 1B now wouldn't hurt the offense, but historically, that's not usually the case. A + bat at 3B AND 1B is a better lineup than a + bat at 1B and a - bat at 3B. If for instance Lewis is now entrenched at 1B and we later find that Brooks Lee isn't the offensive player we all are hoping for, that negatively impacts the lineup if he's forced to play because now he's the best option at 3B or 2B or where ever.
  15. Just about every one of them is saying they don't want to move Royce not that he can't play 1B. The subtext of every one of those posts is basically that it's too early in his career to give up the offensive potential of him playing a more premium defensive position.
  16. I'm not sure who you are arguing with here, because the people who would have liked Rhys Hoskins, are likely the same people who like Lewis at 3B. And the same people who believe WAR is a poor tool and gives defense too much weight.
  17. I'd be up for it with the way the current roster is constructed. But I'm not a fan of locking up 1st base long term though. You can get squeeze some pretty dang good hitters into first base who are more questionable than Lewis to play somewhere else.
  18. Man, Texas had the best offense in the AL last year; .790 OPS. This year they only have two players who can top that mark and it's almost exactly the same offensive roster. Those bats got old fast. And yes, I realized I probably just jinxed the Twins by posting this.
  19. May, Duffey, Perkins, Nathan, Hawkins, Aguilera. Duran, Alcala, Rogers and Presley were all questionable starters until right when they got called up. Still baffling that the Twins didn't have the foresight to do it with Liam Hendricks before they had to cut him loose.
  20. OK, so if they were willing to spend 700K on a bad reliever, stands to reason they may be able to be talked into spending 700K on a not bad reliever. But again, I'm in agreement, Texas is unlikely to do this, and if they should, the players are unlikely to make it to the Twins.
  21. I'm not disagreeing that the Pohald's aren't the ones standing in the way of improving the club, but Trevor Richards isn't playing for free. They did add 1M or whatever in payroll to add him, which is as much or more than the last three relievers listed. Stands to reason if they didn't say no to Richards, it's possible they wouldn't say no to: RHRP José Léclerc - $1M - 0.3 fWAR LHRP Kirby Yates - $0.7M - 1.6 fWAR LHRP Andrew Chafin - $0.7M - 0.3 fWAR
  22. Bad look for sure. Especially since Seattle and Houston are two teams who ARE in position to grab these guys. No way in hell Texas wants either of those teams to win a championship with one of these guys.
  23. Yeah, I get it, but the Twins are paying Richards more than the last three relievers on the list will cost. But agree with everyone else; they'll never make it to the Twins. The only hope is that no team is going to want to claim and accidentally get three starters and four relievers, so someone goes unclaimed by the lower teams because they all claimed the same few guys. Which means the Twins would need to bid on the worst of the bunch.
