  1. Looking at their bullpen, it looks like they already have seven once-promising-but-now-journeymen-vets. They probably couldn't tell any of them apart at this point.
  2. Sure, but outside of designed QB runs, there are like three teams left in the league that do that anymore.
  3. Yeah, even if none of them are elite, they brought in so many edge guys that they'll rotate the front seven (more often than not it will only be a front six) like the Jets and Eagles do. They'll be fresh and be able to blitz in ways that each player specializes in; I can see this team leading the league in sacks even if no single player is a particular stand out. If they get that much pressure on the QBs, the rest of the defense will look good by default.
  4. I'd be all for trading most of these vets at the deadline if the team stinks, but while I think O'Connell has some job security, I'm not sure Adofo Mensah does. I think he'll do everything in his power to scrape 9 wins together this year. Which is the worst amount of wins to have.
  5. He should have gotten more. That's the price Jerry Jones should have had to pay by dragging his feet just to make a spectacle to put the Cowboys in the spotlight. The best player at each position only gets paid as the top player for a brief moment. The other top tier players at the position all get to top him. It's how it works. And honestly, Lamb MIGHT actually be the best player at the position right now. I hate the Cowboys.
  6. I haven't said it out loud yet, but my fear is the Pohlad's will force such a drastic payroll reduction, that the Twins will be forced to trade Correa, and the only way to do so without eating a good chunk of money is by also giving up top prospects. I'm sure that's just the irrational part of my brain trying to scare me though.......
  7. I'm more worried they are going to do something even more drastic and chose between Correa and Lopez.
  8. Moonshots are scarce on this club, I'll happily take the cringing that goes along with them.
  9. Max fell into the perfect landing spot as far as finding a stable home. Had he landed with a team like the Rays, he'd have been traded after 2019 (if not earlier) for prospects, had he landed with a team like the Yankees, he'd have been packaged early in his career for an ace pitcher, if he'd landed with a team like the Pirates he'd have been non-tendered after 2022. I know I'm not a very sentimental guy about players any longer, but I think things worked out pretty good for him all things considered.
  10. Yeah, and Pace wasn't drafted, he signed as a UDFA because this team CAN'T draft defensive players and Minnesota was clearly the best shot for him to make a roster.
  11. Court date isn't until November. Then the inevitable appeal. He probably won't be suspended until 2025 when we're all excited to see McCarthy again.
  12. I agree, but the problem is that the improved defense is due to free agency, not drafting and developing. The guys they brought in are a 1-2 year fix, so unless they're planning on bringing in 5-6 new defense starters every year, the peak defense probably won't match up with when this offense peaks.
  13. Even after losing all the free agents, the projected payroll in 2025 is about 130M. Santana is making over 5M this year, and the only players who will make more than that on the Twins next year are Correa, Buxton, Lopez, Vazquez and Castro. Unless the Pohlad's have a change of (gain a) heart, I don't anticipate any free agents this off season.
  14. For sure, but less since Jeter, Bernie, Posada and that gang retired. Though if you asked me why, I couldn't say exactly.
  15. Shocker, the journeymen vets are at the bottom. I don't trust relievers, but at least as far as this team goes, the ones with familiarity with the organization and likely more importantly, the ones that the organization is familiar with tend to be the best ones. It might take a year or two, but if you already know when, where and how to use a guy, it's got to be a huge advantage.
  16. Seems like the kind of momentum destroying error that might get a guy sent back to AAA.
  17. I'd DFA Farmer. If not Farmer, then Richards, Funderburk then Dobnak. But I'd not lose sleep over Margot.
  18. Flores got a really bad defensive team to look league average last year. I think it's possible this defense is a top unit in the league now that it actually has league average players. I think this team could be much better than expected. But even if Darnold pulls a Geno Smith type resurrection, that's still not a good enough QB to win it all.
  19. Dylan Bundy type signings would escalate. By default he’d beat out young guys like SWR for a rotation spot.
  20. The Twins throw harder and get more strikeouts than other teams. Like deadening the ball after they built the Bomba Squad, this would disproportionally impact the Twins more than clubs who give up high contact.
  21. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit, but I kind of like this pick up. I was interested in Corral last year, and I’d rather roll the dice with the unknown than on someone like Sean Mannion.
  22. We've seen a lot of them, but most of those guys played for extremely inept offensive coaching situations. Also, and this is a bit harsh, but if a guy can't recover from a high level of adversity, he's probably not the kind of player who could one day carry a team to a Super Bowl.
  23. Do I want to see starters go deeper into games? Hell yes. Do I want to find out what happens to the Twins pitchers when either A) they get injured more, or B) they start throwing softer to allow more innings? Hell no.
  24. "No player slated to take on a full-time role should be dismissed and passively deemed a meaningless acquisition." OK I'll start: Matt Schoemaker. Only one answer per poster please.
