  1. You may get what you wish for. Looks like Michael Fulmer is available to anyone willing to offer him a contract. Edit: Nope, looks like the Red Sox have his rights while he's out for the year.
  2. Yeah, I definitely didn't want any token moves that didn't actually mean anything. But I'm quite confident there's not a soul in the Twins PR staff that would dare to make the fans think this is anything other than quarter step up from a waiver wire move.
  3. This guy was actually pretty good. In 2021.
  4. Not a contender. Neither is KC. Cleveland may yet sneak out a bye, but they ain't brining home a trophy this year either. The AL champ will come from the significantly more talented AL East or AL West teams.
  5. I don't like our owners, but it can get worse. Sure, the Mets got a big spender, but they're in NY. What if we got the disaster that's the new ownership of the Marlins?
  6. I'm going to need some clarification on this breaking the internet thing. Was it a celebratory breaking, or riotous?
  7. None of them make the Twins a contender, and all of them were such blasé moves, they wouldn't have improved the mood on this site one bit.
  8. Did they improve that much? KC got a platoon IF, a flakey 5th starter who can't miss bats and a reliever who's been good all of three months. Cleveland got a platoon CF and a 5th starter who hasn't pitched at all this year. I would have wanted nothing to do with the players those two teams got. The Twins are pissing me off right now, but those guys slightly improve those teams while they wouldn't do much for the Twins; their roster is still better than both of them. I'm definitely not jealous of their mid season "upgrades".
  9. Sam Dyson is a former journeyman relief pitcher, playing for Toronto, Miami, Texas, San Francisco and very briefly the Minnesota Twins. He was born in Tampa Florida and was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 4th round of the 2010 draft out of the university of South Carolina. Dyson was a functional reliever bouncing around between teams from 2012 through 2019. Despite struggling to miss bats, he had a career high 38 saves for the Rangers in 2016. At the last minute of the trade deadline on July 31st, 2019 he was traded from the Giants to the Twins for Jaylin Davis, Prelander Berroa and Kai-Wei Teng. Things started out rough as he joined the Twins in Miami the next day entering the game in the 9th with a 4-1 lead giving up 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 ER without getting an out. Controversy surrounded the trade as it was soon revealed that Dyson was pitching with an injured shoulder, which would eventually lead to season ending surgery. He never pitched in the major leagues again. However things would take an even darker turn soon after when he was accused of assaulting and pointing a handgun at his ex girlfriend, all this while he was still pitching professionally. The courting filings also leveled accusations of racist rants he would make against other MLB players. View full player

  11. The timing of this one with the trade deadline fast approaching was well done. Could use a Sam Dyson one as well!
  12. Well then it sounds like Minneapolis is a safe place for them to stick Dobnak.
  13. So the trade deadline is at 5 PM and first pitch tonight is at 6:10 PM. With nothing announced, you'd have to presume the Twins don't want to make anything official until they're sure they won't have a roster issue with a new player. So I'm guessing they told Dobnak to head over to Minneapolis instead of St. Paul today, but they're holding off with an announcement on the slim chance that something better breaks right for them?
  14. Julien might be the better comp since both he and Norby have already started their service time clock. Looks like they also got left handed OF Kyle Stowers. Maybe he's a step down from someone like Trevor Larnach? Not sure. Possible step up.
  15. I like feel good stories when I watch movies, but until this team wins a championship, I want cold blooded methodical decisions. Kill of the dog, have the mob blow up the girlfriend in a car explosion. let the villain win. I want determined ruthlessness with only one goal in mind.
  16. Considering the off field financial aspects are so important to a healthy payroll, I want them to hire some Fortune 500 financial genius or media or marketing hot-shot to run the team. So yeah, I'd let St. Peter talk until he puts his foot in his mouth one time too many.
  17. Would have the front office given Correa, Lopez and Buxton those contracts if they knew ownership was going to cut spending immediately afterwards though? To be clear, I'm not pointing fingers at the front office for making poor decisions, I could also even be talked into not pointing fingers at ownership for cutting payroll if there was better evidence they were actually losing money. But I will 100% point fingers at ownership for not having the foresight to see this coming and for having zero tact when communicating this with the fans. Why is Falvey always stuck having to answer these questions that should be answered by St. Peter and Joe Pohlad?
  18. They've negotiated three terrible TV deals and launched one failed Twins-centric station since they left Midwest Sports. Yet the guy overseeing all of these is still in charge, which is the thing I'm most disappointed in. Target and 3M poach CEOs from overachieving companies and that's how other MLB teams do it too. But the Twins stick with the rags-to-riches feel good story of the local guy who worked his way up from the mailroom and has only ONE employer to put down on his resume.
  19. Correa won't speak up. That's what he pays Scott Boras for. He's not afraid to call out teams in the off season.
  20. I'm not against it, but I'm really only interested in guys with upside and I think Rogers can only regain that upside if he can increase that velocity. The Twins have been good at doing that lately, but is that the case here? With his history of arm troubles, it might not be possible, or even smart to try.
  21. No interest in making zero-impact trades just so the organization can say they did something and pretend they're trying to win a championship.
  22. I'd guess that would be a popular one here, so I'm thinking that's low.
