  1. Lee's not playing well, but with Severino's control issues, I'm guessing he was told to keep the bat on his shoulders. Not that he should have listened.......
  2. But this is freakin' Houston. With the entire MLB community blasting this move, he'll probably end up being World Series MVP.
  3. Pretty crazy. I'm sure Houston's thought is that guys with high strikeouts and low walks have a pretty good shot at having their numbers even out by the end of the year. But even as much as I was previously interested in him, his last few starts would have had me only offering minimal prospects in return.
  4. Unless you're Cleveland. Everything is breaking right for them.
  5. I haven't seen much evidence that teams are willing to pay for defense these days. Particularly not in the corner outfield. Gurriel and Jorge Soler got multi year deals while Kevin Kiermaier could only get one year and at a much lower amount. Teoscar Hernandez also only got one year, but at 2x the value of Kiermaier. All the OPSs were within shouting distance of each other too, so it seems like teams are paying for XBH, which is reasonable to me.
  6. That's more than Lourdes Gurriel got and prior to signing, he had been a significantly more consistent bat than Kepler. Just for fun, I'll say Kepler gets a 2 year 25M contract with a third year option that includes a 3M buyout. But he'll be waiting awhile next offseason expecting more. Of course during that time there will be two dozen articles about whether the Twins will or should bring him back.
  7. I severely disliked the trade at the time as I was still deep into my loathing for sinkers and pitch-to-contact guys. The Twins had already started to turn the corner on that approach and were starting to become really good at missing bats as a team overall, but I couldn't shake the frustration of the past 20 years.
  8. But, but, but, Derek Falvey said it wasn't about the money! Don't tell me he was merely covering for his boss!!!!!!
  9. Five hits by the Mets. The staff was pretty dang good, but something is missing. Can't put my finger on it.
  10. No kidding. Like 30 spring trainings wasn't already enough for the guy.
  11. He's reverted to his norms for sure. And teams seemed to be way overpaying for veteran players this year.
  12. Except Miami to Havana is about the distance of Minneapolis to Moorhead, so I kind of dropped the ball on that joke.
  13. Dude has three stolen bases this year. You really want to take that threat off the base paths!?!?
  14. They claim the international waters between Key Largo and Havana too.
  15. So payroll adjusted, the Twins should probably be rolling with about a 8M payroll.
  16. Ready for the geography lesson sir.
  17. Except they're not. Again, the Minnesota market is the 15th biggest. That's average.
  18. Like Buffalo and Kanas City? I don't think you get out enough.
  19. Man, we used to have a celebrity death pool here. Not sure what happened to that. Austin Marin was a 1st round pick and he was still in junior high if I remember correctly.
  20. It's the 15th largest market in the country. Should there only be 14 teams?
  21. I don't hate, but I was never a big believer. I'm with Greg Maddux.
  22. I've been to Buffalo. It's closer to Des Moines than it is to Minneapolis.
