  1. I saw a lineup without Buxton, Kepler or Rosario in the outfield due to injury. It wasn't pretty. Rosario played even when injured.Yes it looked like he wasn't hustling but maybe he couldn't run all out. In reviewing certain plays you could see him dragging his right leg probably due to injury or weakness in it. This occurred through the end of the year.
  2. I've been waiting 3 years to see if Arraez could continue at the Major League level and the definite answer is yes. Could he fall off, only if someone really messes with his hitting style. His walk rate will go up because anything thrown in the zone he hits. I agree though he looks like he could use a couple years of following Berrios workouts in the offseason.
  3. And here I was hoping an ex-Yankee would help us beat that Yankee curse. Time for another plan. Maybe we could give up and trade who ever is not coming back next year to the real World Series Contenders. Might get some great offers. .
  4. I think Thorpe gets a tryout the rest of September for a starting role on next years team. It gets easy to see 2 guys who spent the bulk of this year in the minors getting a lot of starts in next years rotation. Odo gets a qualifying offer and Gibson takes a 3 year deal. They will probably sign a free agent starter next March, although I think this years free agents will not wait so long to take a decent if not great contract offer. A possible trade with Tampa Bay for Snell, who is their most expensive player.
  5. Its great to see the young core take a giant step forward. Also amazing is the almost 100 homers they signed in the off season.
  6. I don't know what Graterol will do this year. I assume he will pitch for the Twins at some point. I hope he pitches well enough to help them win some games down the stretch. If he makes the post season roster, I hope he has some big moments (good ones) in the playoffs. However, I expect him to have some rookie moments and won't be particularly disappointed if he does. But what I would really like is for him to be the #2 starter behind Berrios by the end of next year and be part of the continued long term rebuild of the rotation.
  7. The Twins seem to have major league outfield talent at all levels of the minor's currently. Next spring/early summer could see Larnach, Kiriloff, Rooker and Raley getting major league time in the outfield/firstbase/DH. I don't think Buxton will ever play more than 135/140 games a year without getting injured. Kepler can cover center when needed the next 2 years while one of the centerfield talents works their way up. That said, I don't see Cave back next year. He was good in 2018 and great the last couple of weeks but they need roster space and playing time for the outfield prospects at Triple and Double A. Gonzalez can be the 4th until someone demands roster space. I can't see Rosario getting traded before winter of 2020/21 at the earliest. Someone would have to overwhelm them.
  8. I would like to see Balazovic as the up and coming young starter working his way into the Twins rotation in 2021. Possibly a couple innings at the end of next year, but probably not much.
  9. I don't know why cave would swing at a 3-0 pitch under any circumstances without specific instructions to. He's not Cruz, he should get fined by the Twins or chewed out for losing track of the count if that was the situation. I don't care what the score was. The Twins have trouble with their pitching and no lead is safe as evidence by the the Yankees scoring 9 runs in the last 3 innings to win 14-12 a couple weeks back. If I was Baldelli I would be pissed if they were laying down at the end of game since they are trying to win the division.
  10. Since there is not much minor league baseball in September, sans playoffs, I don't see any development issues with him sitting on the major bench the last month. He could be short relief or he could be in that long relief rotation getting used to the major leagues. Sounds reasoable to me.
  11. Homeruns as a team, 1st in baseball. Runs scored as a team, 3rd. They have only won 7 times this year (out of 72 wins) when they scored 3 or fewer runs. They have lost 12 games when they scored 5 or more. If my math is correct they need to figure out how to score more runs every game. Heck with stopping anybody just club them into submission.
  12. Larnach has more than held his own at AA and has been very good in his last 10 games. With 20 games left this in the season he's seems ready to make a statement about his first full year status. He's looking more and more like a candidate for an early call up next year.
  13. This reminds me of a roster full of rookies with pennant chase fever. Trying to do too much. Swinging wildly at pitches over their head, throwing curve balls in the dirt and trying to make plays on defense that give the other team extra bases and outs. There are 47 games left, nearly a third of the season, too early to get all worked up.
  14. Unfortunately Romero threw 2 wild pitches and allowed 2 inherited base runners to score. It appears left handed batters are are still killing him. Hopefully he will learn a pitch(pitches?) that he can compete against lefties with. He still is not lights-out against righties either. Graterol also seems to have some trouble against lefties, not to the same extent as Romero though,
  15. 2020 could really be interesting for new bats coming to Minnesota.
  16. Hit em where they ain't. Arraez is a great compliment to the homerun/ strikeout type hitters throughout the Twins lineup. He could score a bunch of runs on this team.Opponents have already stop trying to shift on him and he still hits it through them.
  17. The Twins spent a lot on pitching development this past off season. It may be the time to start giving them the best talent available.
  18. Ouch, Ouch & Ouch. But on the brighter side Diaz may be turning into the hitter we thought we'd signed 6 years ago.
  19. It might not seem like it because of early results, but to me Buxton struggles from pitch to pitch. He swings and misses too often on outside and low pitches. Yes most batters that swing at that pitch, miss regularly. Others have learned to lay off it, but Buxton hasn't yet. He still flails wildly at too many pitches. For all his doubles, which is pretty much any hit to the outfield, how many have gone to right center? He could set an MLB record if pitchers keep giving him pitches on the inside half of the plate. His best hit I think this past weekend was a two strike single in which he shortened his swing and hit it to right field knocking in a run. Teams have been giving him the right side of the infield to hit through, but he hasn't been able to make them pay. I can't recall him bunting a ball past the pitcher towards second yet. He is very talented, probably the most talented on the team, but he relies too much on his natural talent and needs to develop fully his bat control skills as a professional hitter. Let him bat ninth and keep on developing, so he can focus more on his personal skill development and does not feel the need to try and do too much.
  20. If the top five can finish off their pitches and command this bodes well for the future of the Twins rotation. Every level appears to have strong starting candidates, which hopefully means that every year we have have an additional 2-3 strong pitchers to continually grow the pitching staff. It is surprising to see that 3 pitchers who started games for the Twins last year and are in consideration for making starts at some point this year can't make the top 5.
  21. Its nice to see groups of players with major league potential making it to the upper minors. Hopefully next year this time, the Rochester roster will be loading as well. Nothing against guys who spend 8, 9 or 10 years trying to make it to the show, but I want to see double and Triple A loaded with talented guys trying to kick the door in.
  22. Hopefully several are knocking on the door by the end of 2020.
  23. Trey Cabbage and Jean Carlos Arias are a couple of names I expected to see much further along by now. This appears to be the fifth year in the system for both although there are many older on the roster. I assume the coaches see a future for them or they wouldn't still be here. Hopefully better instruction will be bring out the talent.
  24. I doubt anyone will catch Houston, its possible but unlikely. Not only are they one of the elite teams in baseball, but they have 6 of the top 100 prospects in AA or higher in they need support during the year. That's a good model for building a team.
