The Minnesota Twins lost to the Tigers again Sunday, dropping a home series to Detroit three games to one. Yuck. Jordan Balazovic was a silver lining, as he delivered 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in his Major League debut. The Minnesota Twins lost to the Tigers again Sunday, dropping a home series to Detroit three games to one. Yuck. The Minnesota Twins went with a bullpen game Saturday and six pitchers combined to shutout the Tigers: José De Léon, Emilio Pagán, Brent Headrick, Brock Stewart, Griffin Jax and Jhoan Duran. And it was a good thing they were all so sharp, as the lineup struggled once again. The Twins scored just two runs, which came on an Alex Kirilloff single and a Ryan Jeffers fielder's choice. Minor league highlights include Gilberto Celestino, Trevor Larnach and DaShawn Keirsey Jr.

The Minnesota Twins were blown out at home by the slumping Tigers but there was plenty else to discuss in the minor leagues. Kenta Maeda made another rehab start for the Saints in a game where Matt Wallner hit an impressive opposite-field homer. Brooks Lee had another multi-hit night for the Wind Surge. Marco Raya and Zebby Matthews combined to provide an outstanding pitching performance for the Kernels. Jorel Ortega had a three-hit night for the Mighty Mussels and Rafael Cruz added a couple of dazzling defensive plays.

The Minnesota Twins lost to the Tigers Thursday but there was plenty to be excited about in the minor leagues. With Fort Myers playing at Bradenton, we have the rare opportunity to look at some of their highlights. Players featured include Andrew Morris, Rubel Cespedes, Gregory Duran, Ricardo Olivar and Rafael Cruz. For the Saints, Chris Williams homered again (of course he did) and Andrew Stevenson had another big game. Brooks Lee had a three-hit night for Wichita ... but also committed two costly errors in the bottom of the ninth inning. And finally, Ernie Yake provided a walk-off hit in the 12th inning for Cedar Rapids in a crazy finish.

It was an impressive showing from the pitching staff, as Bailey Ober delivered another six strong innings and Brock Stewart, Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax combined to be perfect out of the bullpen. In the minors, Chris Williams slugged another couple of home runs for the Saints and Cory Lewis dazzled hitters with his knuckleball for the Kernels. There was also some catching up to do on the action from Sunday and yesterdays' action, as I was in Duluth for the past few nights and wasn't able to get these recaps out. Taylor drove in all three runs for the Twins and Jhoan Duran pitched the final two innings to secure the victory. Royce Lewis had a four-hit night. The Minnesota Twins were shutout by the Rays but down in Triple A the Saints lineup managed to tally 10 runs thanks to grand slams from Jair Camargo and Chris Williams. Also featured in tonight's minor league highlights are Matt Wallner and Brooks Lee. There's also an Austin Martin update and much more. -

The Minnesota Twins fell 2-1 to Cleveland Sunday despite an impressive start from Joe Ryan. A Willi Castro solo homer was all the offense the lineup could muster. Royce Lewis had another scary moment on the field, this time involving a collision with the first baseman. Luckily, it sounds like he's going to be OK. The Minnesota Twins ended a disappointing May on a high note yesterday, beating the Astros to win their series in Houston. To top it off, they finally got not just one but two hits with the bases loaded. Hopefully this impressive performance serves as a turning point for the team and signals a new direction for June.
