The Minnesota Twins defeated the Royals 7-1 Thursday night at Target Field but for the second-straight game their starting pitcher had an early exit. Tyler Mahle pitched well for four innings but then exited due to elbow soreness. That cleared the way for Brock Stewart to make his first MLB appearance since 2019 as the Twins cruised to victory. The Minnesota Twins avoided what would have been an embarrassing sweep by beating the Nationals 3-1 at Target Field Sunday. Jorge Polanco drove in two runs and Bailey Ober had a solid first start of the season for the Twins. In the minors, the rehabbing Alex Kirilloff hit two home runs for the Saints, Noah Miller and Noah Cardenas led the Kernels' lineup to an 11-run performance and Ricardo Olivar hit his homer in first full-season ball action. Thanks to home runs from Edouard Julien, Joey Gallo and Trevor Larnach, the Minnesota Twins had a nice stress-free evening in Boston. They built up enough of a lead for Joe Ryan to hand the game over to Brent Headrick, who was making his Major League debut. Headrick looked great, finishing the final three innings to earn a save.
