  1. I'm hoping that this is not the case, but feel that you may be at least some truth to it. If this is true, I'd say that they're doing themselves a disservice by not at least seeing what they do have. In a season that is already lost, there is no harm in seeing what you've got or at least giving deserving AAA players a chance. I don't really think it looks good to players in the system or guys signing minor league deals either. It's hard to sell the hope of getting a spot on the big league roster when there is a mountain of evidence to suggest that won't be the case even if they're earning one. That has to be extremely frustrating to be one of those guys that has seemingly earned a spot but continue to get usurped by aging veteran castoffs.
  2. It could be just based on how they intend to pitch him. I'd agree though, that's a bit weird.
  3. They wouldn't have come home in that scenario, but Wilson has to safely reach for the run to count so you'd be correct.
  4. I'd still rather see them bring up their own AAA guys before bringing in someone else's cast off.
  5. Not a golfer, huh? It's always the clubs fault!
  6. Heck, I have no future as a pitcher and I'd love to listen to that!
  7. Waiting on the edge of my seat anxiously awaiting his debut!
  8. These are important decisions that can't be ignored! Time is of the essence!
  9. Seems to me that a twins game thread ain't a true game thread without something wrong. I mean, look at the squad that we still follow at this point and follow close enough to partake in a game thread. Clearly, there's something wrong with us. Besides, any intro that includes Who's On First is perfect in my view!
  10. Fair question, but the list of players worth keeping in that timeframe isn't all that long to begin with unfortunately.
  11. If this was the plan, Gibson would have been traded this deadline. Since they hung on to him and anyone else with team control past this season (Pressly being the exception), that tells me that they still think they can compete next season. They do have work to do this offseason, but with so many players having career worst type years, it may not be as much as it seems. I do hope that they bring in more depth as a contingency though.
  12. Interesting list. Still too early to write off most of them, but it's definitely discouraging to see the lack of performance from what was considered a top farm system at the time. It's also pretty telling about the current state of the organization. You simply can't hinge your future on prospects like this and have them not develop and expect to succeed. Player development is so key to a franchise that can't go buy what it needs to fill holes.
  13. If this team has taught you anything, it's that it's tough to win scoring only 1 run.
  14. I wasn't thinking he'd be the guy, but I'm not convinced Polanco will be either.
  15. I'm not convinced this is the case, but if that is the intent then I agree with you completely.
  16. I wondered that too, but chalked it up to keeping players in their normal position. I'd rather put out my best defensive alignment, but to each their own.
  17. That's fair enough, but with guys that still figure to be around for next year, it would be nice to see these guys learn to hit with some situational awareness.
  18. A single drives him in and doesn't spend an out in the process. He was already in scoring position with no outs.
  19. And? If Gibson was hitting, okay I could understand.
  20. Why not swing away and build a lead greater than one? It's the second inning!
