    Another very tough day. I was holding REITs as a hedge against stock market risk, which has turned out very badly. On the other hand I expect them to come back.

    Please let us know the next time you have a plan. I have a diversified portfolio and even some of the fixed income got fried. I suspect/hope that you were up today. My sense is that the market will probably come back by the end of the year, but I continue to hedge with covered calls. I tried to buy back all my covered calls from the moment that the market opened today, but could not get my limit prices, even on Wells Fargo (which stinks for other reasons). My takeaway is the the people who are long on calls expect the market to come back.

    My favorite memory is him signing autographs in Anaheim during his last season with the Twins. He was very generous with his time, making a lot of fans happy.

It should be possible for a member of TD to begin a thread that discusses other issues relating to Sano. If you don't like this thread then please do not post in it. We are trying to preserve freedom of speech, while promoting the freedom of each member to begin a discussion about some other aspect of Sano's career.

    I saw Shape of Water tonight and overall I liked it. I was with my wife and two other women and they liked it more than I did. Things that I liked included the early 1960's setting (especially the cars) and the character development. The story was solid but... [spoiler omitted] On the downside, some of the violence made me close my eyes. Also, I agree with ash that a lighter touch would have been better, but I am told that the movie falls into the genre of "magical realism", so maybe that explains it. As for the erotic elements, I am told that a lot of money spent on the creature costume to make it erotic, but without any hint of male genitalia. My sense is that a significant percentage of women will find the movie erotic.

    "Mollie's Game" was really good -- Aaron Sorkin wrote and directed, and the story and dialog are both strong. I also enjoyed "Hostiles", which involves a physical and psychological journey about inhumanity and redemption.

    I have read this entire thread and the other thread. My sense is that most of the posts have been thoughtful. However, some posters have been disrespectful of other posters. Once the thread is unlocked there is going to be ZERO TOLERANCE of that. If you think that someone's post is stupid, either be respectful in your response or refrain from responding. If you insult the other poster or bicker then you will have your posting privileges suspended. My impression based on reading the thread is that I believe that there is general agreement that Betsy is probably telling the truth. On the other hand, we live in a country where the presumption of innocence is a bedrock principle, and it is important to look for discrepancies in any accuser's story. I suspect that it will be weeks or months until all relevant information becomes public, or maybe it will never become public. In the meantime, the moderators are going to insist that posters be respectful of opposing views. Feel free to argue, but keep it respectful.

    The post in question was tongue in cheek -- hence the allusion to the Beverly Hillbillies. That said, the Angels play in Orange County -- fewer movie stars or world class sushi bars, and a much smaller Japanese presence.

    Another way to look at this is that he is focused on three world class cities (Yankees, Cubs and Dodgers) and two teams that have had very successful Japanese players (Rangers and Mariners). Among these five choices, I would choose the Dodgers -- swimmin pools and movie stars, not to mention great weather, a great tradition and great sushi bars.

    I loved reading this every day. You provided recaps that were better than what I could find anywhere else. The writing was crisp and relevant. The clips were well chosen, and the other features were informative and apt. This obviously took a ton of work, and I am grateful.

    It will also help if Sano can stay healthy and Trevor May can come back strong. The Twins seem to have a solid young core and now it's up to Falvine to build on that.
