    I do believe the quality of the pitching staffs from 2015-2018 needs to be taken into account when judging a individual's impact on Win-Loss record. A study on the record with Polanco, Kepler, Buxton and Sano in the lineup vs one or more of them out of the lineup would be more telling of the impact of the 'core'.

    Universal DH - Yes. I don't want to see pitchers bat. But the DH is all I've known and I like dingers vs double switches and pitchers weakly grounding out 85% of the time. Pitch clock - Yes Roster size - Absolutely. Gimme Tortuga. Limiting it to 28 in September seems silly though 3 Batter minimum-Could take it or leave it.

    I agree with most of the list. These new home alternates, I don't love them, I don't hate them. What gets me up in arms the most is that these new home alternates come at the expense of the cream uniforms. The creams were the best.

    Well, neither do I. Just looking at the situation from any angle. Obviously, you hope first and foremost the Twins and Schoop play well.

    Could be a flip candidate if the team tanks in 2019 and performs at previous year levels. Guy was a 5.2 WAR player in 2017, still a 1.4 WAR last year in a down season.

    I think this is a very good buy low candidate. Hopefully 2016-early 2018 Schoop is the one that shows up.

    I honestly do not think that the team as it is currently constructed is that far away.* They lost 15 via walkoff, so I think shoring up the bullpen could go a long way in getting even closer.** I'd start with Joe Kelly, Andrew Miller on the cheap, and Familia/Herrera.*** I'd also shoot for Pearce as a placeholder at 1st, and LeMahieu/Jed Lowrie to plug in at 2nd. *This is entirely dependent on Buxton and Sano coming back as the 2017 version of themselves, not the 2018. **I don't know what is giving me this rosy outlook. I should probably get my head checked. ***This is video game wishing/spending ****Is it March 28th yet?

    I'm not saying you're wrong. What I was trying to say was spend the money on someone(s) not named Machado. I didn't convey that well.

    Machado is tempting. Heck of a talent. Don't really like him as a person. And think the Twins would be wise to spend his $30+ million per year on 2-4 different players. Wonder if Machado is kinda like a Pierzynski type. Where you like him when he's on your team, but loathe him when he's not. Oriole fans may have more of a insight on that.

    If they had parted amicably after last season, I'd say make a play for Dougie Baseball. Managed Buxton and Sano in the minors I believe. Doubt he'd come here now. But I've been calling for him since Gardy was fired.

    I'm going to miss Joe Mauer. Glad I was there to witness it first hand on Sunday. In regards to his HOF consideration. I think that he is at minimum worthy of consideration. Just his 9+ seasons as a catcher alone, he is worthy. 1st ballot does he get in? I don't think he will, and he won't. JAWS has him ranked as the 7th best catcher of all time. He is only 1 of 10 players to play at least half of his games as a backstop to collect 2,000 hits. He's literally at 50%, but still. And of those 10, 6 are Hall of Famers (Ivan Rodriguez, Carlton Fisk, Yogi Berra, Mike Piazza, Gary Carter and Johnny Bench). I've never understood the argument that he hamstrung the Twins with his contract, or blamed him for signing the thing. This is my long way of saying that Joe Mauer is the best pure Twins hitter I have seen in my 32 years and I don't think I'll see a better one in my lifetime. That makes me sad to type and I wish I had appreciated him more when I could.
