  1. And the longer answer has words that can't be printed on a family site.
  2. Not sure exactly what it means, but I think it's supposed to be good.
  3. When they were 1-6 it was too early to write them off, but we did it anyway. It's probably too early to take them seriously now, too, but... They have played well. Bad teams can have stretches when they play well, but this does feel bit different. This isn't the result of a bunch of guys playing way over their heads. For every unsustainable positive there is at least one player playing below expectations who could improve. I really have no idea what to expect, so 143-13 here we come (until proven otherwise.)
  4. Need to rename it Episode .191 and give a shout-out to Tim Laudner. (Maybe you did the 2nd part - I can't listen to the podcast until I get home from work.)
  5. Better than last year's full puke mode.
  6. I like the time machine reference, although I'm on record as saying the health and new pitch means this could be sustainable. I still think the most likely explanation is the fairy godmother, and when midnight strikes (soon; yesterday might have been the first chime) he will turn back into a pumpkin. (Plus, nobody can make times machines with DeLorean out of business.)
  7. They were wearing White Sox jerseys - I probably would have hit them, too.
  8. I never thought Pelfrey would get into my top 5, but his last two starts have been very good. His velocity is up and the new splitter is an interesting wrinkle. It wouldn't be the first time a pitcher added a pitch and made a major leap forward. I think the real question is does Milone go to the pen (DFA Stauffer) or does Milone still have an option year. (I think he does.)
  9. Cue the Jim Mora-like rant (Play-offs? Playoffs?...) Our current problems are more like this: "We can't win at home. We can't win on the road. As general manager, I just can't figure out where else to play." -- 1992 - Pat Williams, Orlando Magic GM.
  10. Doesn't it take at least 4 batters?
  11. At least he learned how to avoid swinging at breaking balls in the dirt while he was gone. < /sarc>
  12. It seems like I read that Nolasco would be making two rehab starts. Did anyone else see that or am I imagining things?
  13. Anyone have Tonya Harding's number?
  14. I thought that was his real name. No?
  15. I agree. The journeymen are usually good enough to keep getting MLB jobs, but not good enough for anyone to put a real priority on retaining them. Plouffe has turned out to be a pretty good 3B and the Twins would definitely want to keep him long-term if not for Sano. Again, I agree. If at least one of the two doesn't get his last MLB AB this year, I will be surprised. I think Plouffe is a notch above journeyman while these two are a notch below.
  16. Definitely not any of the Twins players' walk-up music.
  17. I'm sure the Twins will eventually release some guys and call up some young guys. That should bring a little joy.
  18. Innovation + this team = lipstick + pig We need a better pig.
  19. Nope. The hand is the hand and the bat is the bat.
  20. "Don't Eat the Green Slush" (apologies to Frank Zappa)
  21. When I saw "It's the Home Opener for the Twins... Watch out for Blue Ice!!!" I thought "at least it's better than yellow snow." Apparently I was wrong.
  22. It seems I remember from last year he lost about 5 mph off his fastball and stopped getting people out. If that has continued this spring, I'd rather have him hunt for the magic fastball pixie dust in Rochester. If he finds it he'll get another chance (unless this team outperforms expectations in a big way, in which case we won't care if he gets another shot or not.)
