  1. Dozier is also batting .248, and he's an all-star. You might want to add something further.
  2. A transition time is normal. Neither has been given enough opportunity to say they won't make the transition.
  3. Not as bad as I thought based on the headline. Two schedule off days plus one rain-out means 'swept" was only 3 games.
  4. I agree. On the other hand, the Hu's on first jokes probably bring more value than anything Jepsen will do, unless he changes his name to George and names his kids Elroy and Judy.
  5. I certainly didn't hear that, but I probably wasn't listening.
  6. It doesn't bother me. I'm good at not listening - ask my wife.
  7. That looks like more than once every 2.7 years.
  8. For Santana, last year was good luck (performance much better than track record suggested.) This year had been regression + bad luck, but most of it has been regression.
  9. It definitely is puzzling, I'm not sure what's going on either, but it sure seems like there must be something we can't see. Right now I prefer Escobar to any of the other options, and Santana really needs to go down. He has just been horrible all year.
  10. Rule 5.09 Edit: A batter is out when: a (11) In running the last half of the distance from home base to first base, while the ball is being fielded to first base, he runs outside (to the right of ) the three-foot line, or inside (to the left of ) the foul line, and in the umpire’s judgment in so doing interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base, in which case the ball is dead; except that he may run outside (to the right of ) the three-foot line or inside (to the left of ) the foul line to avoid a fielder attempting to field a batted ball; Rule 5.09(a )(11) Comment : The lines marking the three-foot lane are a part of that lane and a batter-runner is required to have both feet within the three-foot lane or on the lines marking the lane. The batter-runner is permitted to exit the three-foot lane by means of a step, stride, reach or slide in the immediate vicinity of first base for the sole purpose of touching first base.
  11. I always wear my Twins jersey, even if the Twins aren't playing. The only exception is if I go to games on consecutive days - Twins jersey the first game, Twins t-shirt the second.
  12. OK, so I'll stock up on vanilla ice cream to go with it. Keep the boring coming.
  13. Beef-based? Milk-based. From cows, yes, but I don't think they are beef until someone kills them. The factory is just outside OKC in Tuttle, OK, but it's about as far from city as you can get. Their ice cream is good, not great (I preferred Blue Bell until the listeria problem shut them down) but it's an interesting company. From their Wikipedia page: Braum's is noteworthy for its level of vertical integration. Almost all the food products sold at Braum's are processed or manufactured directly by the company; Braum's owns its own feed mill, dairy herd, dairy processing plant, bakery, stores and delivery trucks. It also owns eight farms and ranches with a total area of 40,000 acres (160 km2), as well as its flagship dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma ... Braum's describes itself as the only major ice cream maker to still milk its own cows. They also produce the packaging used for their dairy products.
  14. There seem to be a lot of people trying to take your job tonight. (Braum's Peanut Butter Cup for me. No maple syrup required.)
  15. Before the season, most predicting 80 losses would have been considered optimistic. Now it would be a disappointment.
  16. Sounds like a fair trade-off.
  17. I have a couple of OF non-prospects in the house dealing with the same issues.
  18. You will need a follow-up article with the new manager's 5-year plan to build a winner.
  19. Was told today by the doc that I need to lose weight. I have to tell her she was wrong - I have 36 lbs. worth of eating to do.
  20. I think she voted for it before she was against it.
  21. Just the standard .05% that any given pitcher's arm falls off after any given game. Not much better than that, though. I guess you could add another .45% chance that the Twins find someone to give them something of value for him. Call it .5%.
  22. I've got to say this site is pretty darned good on it's own, not just "compared to that ..."
  23. So are pinto beans actually pintos? If so, are they the horse or the car? If they are the car, that would explain the explosions out the rear end that they cause, Sorry I missed the game thread, but when the oldest kid is out of the house and #2 thru 5 are at camp, there is no one left to keep # 6 occupied except Mom and Dad. (Clean kitchen ... play with 10 yr old - easy choice). (For my wife the choice was "let him entertain 10-yr-old" or "let that ogre destroy my kitchen by trying to clean it" - easy choice for her too.)
  24. Combined last 10 games (to the best of my ability): .419/.493/.718; OPS 1.211
